My E@H still does not work

My E@H still does not work when the screensaver is running and just wasted another 12 hours!

This problem was reported back in Feb 06 and nothing has been done it seems. Must be a low thing on the list of things to fix.

I am running Boinc 5.4.9 on

I am running Boinc 5.4.9 on XP Pro Sp2 Dell Inspiron 8600 with ATI Radeon 9600 with the latest driver available. When I click on "Show Graphics" I see the display although sometimes the button in the Boinc manager is greyed out.

If I set the screen saver so that I don't have to log back in and don't check the go to blank screen box then I get a boinc logo that bounces around along with the task completion task percent which is constantly increasing and it never changes to the screen saver. If I don't change to log on when returning or go to blank screen after 120 minutes then all I ever see for a screen saver is a blank screen.

I did check for a "more info" button on the E@H web site didn't see it.

I would appreciate any help - thank you

New to this board and am

New to this board and am disappointed that the screensaver, which worked the first day or two, now does not. I only get a black screen with the words "BOINC is currently suspended" (though I know it's running).

I'm on a Mac, OSX.3. (If there's a different thread for this problem with Mac users, I haven't found it.)

Any suggestions?

Do you have your general BOINC preferences set to work while the computer is “in use? Which items under BOINC Manager’s Activity menu display checkmarks?

To Odysseus: Bingo I

To Odysseus:

Bingo

I reset the checkmarks to run always, and the screensaver's back.

Many thanks!

OK... Here goes... I have

OK...
Here goes...
I have recently joined EINSTEIN, after running my cache dry during an outage at SETI@home.
I have been using an optimised version of BOINC for SETI, which has NO facility to display the screensaver. No problem. If the screensaver's running, it slows down the crunching, and it also means I'm away from the PC anyway.
Since I attached to Einstein, I have been getting the screensaver for that project, even though I haven't clicked "show graphics".
Again, I don't mind BUT...
When I get up each morning, I find the screensaver has frozen, and I am unable even to open task manager to turn it off.
I'm running a Celeron 2.8 Gig with 1 Gig of RAM and over 50 Gig spare HDD space.
The optimised app was made by Chicken of Angnor, and has worked perfectly well since I installed it in Mid-July.
Prefs are set to run always, with network always available.
Any ideas, anyone?

Since you don't care to have a screensaver on (wasting cycles) and your running windows; right click on your wallpaper, click Properties, click the Screensaver tab and set the screensaver to none. Hope this helps, welcome to Einstein.

Duh me!
Should have thought of that! lol

When I set up my machine, I turned off the screensaver, so never considered BOINC might switch it back on again!!

Many thanks for the advice, AND for the welcome :)
