Ok, I'm back to report "no progress" in getting my screensavers to work. I'm running Widows XP with SP2. I have installed BOINC v5.2.13. My grapics driver has been upgraded to the most recent version (that's when all my trouble started!). Screensaver is set to BOINC. Have reset my preferences at Seti to see if that helps with their screensaver, don't know yet. Right now my computer is running Einstein, so when I click on view graphics I get a black screen.

Does anybody really know what is causing this problem? Is it me and my computer? Or is the problem with Einstein or BOINC?

Shirley

It sounds like there may have been a problem updating your nVidia driver. You may want to reinstall it and/or make sure you got the right one. Can you get any of the Windows screensavers to work? (e.g. Mystify) If not, that would tend to confirm the bad driver theory. (Just don't try one of the Windows 3-D screensavers as they are incompatible with BOINC.) ///i believeitmust be with boinc. tomany people are haveing problems.i have not seen the screensaver either, or eisteins either. let them fix it, it can't be everyones fault.///i say it is boinc. a program called is coming soon, i'm going to wait for it.

I have had Einstein running

I have had Einstein running on and off all day (in turn with the other two I am running) without me doing anything at all. It was the only one which did not run so I am hoping it has now sorted itself out. Thanks for all your helpful suggestions guys

A couple of things to

A couple of things to mention. Screensaver first - I still cannot get the screensaver to work with either Einstein or Rosetta. If I use one of the windows ss it ends up with Boinc programme not responding and I have to close it down(end task). I have overcome the problem of the programme locking up by just programming the screen to go blank instead of using the ss. Yet I can still bring up the graphics ok when I hit the "show graphics" button.

AAAAArrrrrghhhhhhhhh. Sorry

AAAAArrrrrghhhhhhhhh. Sorry folks but I think I keep hitting the "enter" buttopn to change paras and I've posted a million messages. The second thing I was going to mention was that I thought Boinc swas going to give you one ID code and use it across the whole group, whereas I got one for Rosetta and one for Einstein and now they are trying to give me one for Seti which I have been using as a screensaver on two computers with two different names (same apparent reason)for some years. Is this correct?

I can't help on screensaver, but you have a different "ID" for each project, BUT... then you have a "cross-project ID" that will initially be different for each one, but will then sync to be the same.

If you already have a SETI "Classic" account, you need to activate it for BOINC and NOT create a new account there.

Thanks for the reply mate,

Thanks for the reply mate, but I continue to have a problem with Seti. When I logged on with this computer they gave me what was supposed to be a cross project ID, but when you try to use that on others projects it does not recognise the number which is about a million miles long.
That is only half the problem. With my laptop which is only a 133mhz job, it takes forever to crunch the numbers so I have just finished a run which I got just before Seti closed down. I have over 4000hours of computer time crunched for them with Seti Classic, but when I try to create a new thread or add to a thread so I can ask how to get the info to them as the "reply-to" site has closed I get the answer "you have to have an amount of credit before we accept thread input". They obviously don't add your classic credit until you have put in your first seti/boinc one. Talk about frustrating. they built a lot of bugs into the new system.

That is the CPID, but it has _nothing_ to do with joining any other project, only "linking" the projects. You still have to get an account with the other project(s), attach them, and _then_ the CPIDs will sync, and you can use the CPID to set up a "sig" with a 3rd-party stats site, etc...

No, no bugs, just your misunderstanding of how it works. Go to the Questions & Problems area on the SETI site and post. You have to have BOINC credit to post in the message board areas. SETI Classic closed on December 15th. If you kept doing Classic work after that, well, it's wasted. Your Classic credits _will_ be in your BOINC account (as Classic credits) if you activate it rather than creating a new one.

I bet it works when you get your first Albert WU,and the risk is high you get it on your next WU.
I see you haven't a new Workunit yet,but I suspect that is because you run other projects as well.

I've been trying to upload

I've been trying to upload SETI results for a day with no luck. I joined the gravity group this AM and that went well but Boinc does not connect with the gravity wave group server. Is Boinc working on the server end? All seems well here. I haven't changed anything. It was working well before yesterday.
