Michael, perhaps you don't understand. Typing a message in all caps is called "screaming". Nobody will read it correctly if you do this. I have gone back and _read_ your last few messages, and the words by themselves do not seem to be angry and unreasonable -- but they are SHOUTED IN OUR EARS and therefore are going to be treated as such.

corrected, thank you

Michael, I think you

Michael,

I think you should start another thread for the problem you are having. Your posts here have gotten intermingled with people posting about screensaver problems on Windows computers and it has become a little confusing. If you start a new thread with a title something like "Screensaver Problem on Mac/Darwin Computers" you will likely attract the attention of people who can help you. This thread has been focused on issues relating to screensaver problems specific to running the Einstein 4.79 program on Windows computers and, therefore, very few of the Mac users you need help from, read it.

You might also want to read this message (and others on that thread relating to Odysseus). He is another Mac user who was also having a screensaver problem. (He also reported his problem on a thread mixed in with Windows screensaver problems.) It may be slightly different from your problem but he also indicated he found some help on the Seti boards. But again, I think you'll get help here if you start a new thread that clearly asks for help with a Mac problem.

I'm having problems with the

I'm having problems with the Einstein screensaver too - and I'm running the 5.2.13 version of BOINC.

I have only ever seen the Einstein screensaver twice (and very nice it is too, so I'm a bit miffed not to see it more often). Mostly I get a black screen or the BOINC logo dancing about when Einstein is crunching. I don't get the same problem with SETI or Rosetta the other two I run. I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2.I can't get the Einstein logo to display in a seperate window either! I have no idea why it functioned on the two occasions I got it.

Any ideas?

Ok, I'm back to report "no

Ok, I'm back to report "no progress" in getting my screensavers to work. I'm running Widows XP with SP2. I have installed BOINC v5.2.13. My grapics driver has been upgraded to the most recent version (that's when all my trouble started!). Screensaver is set to BOINC. Have reset my preferences at Seti to see if that helps with their screensaver, don't know yet. Right now my computer is running Einstein, so when I click on view graphics I get a black screen.

Does anybody really know what is causing this problem? Is it me and my computer? Or is the problem with Einstein or BOINC?

It sounds like there may have been a problem updating your nVidia driver. You may want to reinstall it and/or make sure you got the right one. Can you get any of the Windows screensavers to work? (e.g. Mystify) If not, that would tend to confirm the bad driver theory. (Just don't try one of the Windows 3-D screensavers as they are incompatible with BOINC.)

Shirley, if other

Shirley, if other screensavers work (especially SETI!) but just not Einstein, are you running the beta app? You may not want to install it at this point with "Albert" coming online, so it may just be best (if this is "Einstein-only") to not run the BOINC screensavers until you're getting nothing but "Albert" work.
