Greetings to all, I'm

Greetings to all,

I'm still not getting the EaH graphics, even though I've been running 0.18 since it became available. What can I do to troubleshoot this problem? I will be happy to post or e-mail any logs or messages as you may request.

Kind regards,

Daniel

Daniel,

I send you a reply in email, did you not get it? I'll resend it to make sure.

The gist of it is that the "Failed to open checkpoint-file for writing. Exiting." is from some other application interfering with BOINC (and Einstein). It also is the cause for the "couldn't write state file" messages.

Check your firewall/anti-virus/file backup software to make sure BOINC is excluded, and that the software is up to date.

The graphics is another issue. What happens when you click "Show graphics"? What happens when you click the "preview" button when setting the BOINC screensaver? If the starsphere doesn't come up, perhaps you need newer drivers for your graphics card.

Thanks, I saw it and replied.

Did you get the email I sent last week? Apparently a bunch "went missing" when I used the wrong "reply-to" address.

Saw your post. This one was interesting to me because of the "Semaphore" errors that were not in the Wiki. I was wondering if they were, indeed, "graphics bug" related.

Not sure! But, I just sent you an e-mail which should help you figure it out.

I was just now rereading the Einstein@Home Beta Testing page and I noticed that, although there are good instructions for installing the Beta application, there aren't any instructions for uninstalling it. And, somehow, I doubt that reading the install instructions backwards will work very well.

Please delete app_info.xml or rename it, for example to app_info_saved.xml .

Just an update -- for the

Just an update -- for the past couple of months we have been preparing a new and better (more sensitive -- can see farther) search code. This incorporates all the good changes from the Windows Beta test app. Currently we have not yet started distributing this new search code and newly prepared S4 data because we are having trouble getting the new validator to work correctly. But hopefullly this will be fixed soon and then E@H users will be getting a new app with all the fixes, plus more data and a more sensitive search.

Thanks for your patience. It's hard work to get all the BOINC bits to work properly together.

Cheers,
Bruce

Quick question - will the more sensitive code be only used on new S4 data, or can it be used to recheck older data too?
