Got some 20 rigs running one of the Einstein mods to the Boikly Junk. Kick ass improvements in processing time. Down side is the server is still running in junk mode. I upload 32 WU's and I get new work in the happy little packages of 8. With each increment there is a chirpy little message to wait for 58-59 seconds-yadda etc. Do the math, 1 rig, 32 up, 8 down times 4 (maybe) equals some 10 minutes a rig. With 20 rigs I am sitting on 200 minutes of attend time. Now 200 divided by 60 is pushing 4 hours of suck each day. Not to mention half my rigs were bumped two hours in upload window by the last happy server outage (a happy coincidence with DST). I now have two upload windows. My only hope to re-synch is to shut down for a day. Why are my performance options limited to shutting down or loading the loser from Boikly??

Edit: Okay, my initial response was a little over the top, but seriously, it doesn't take anywhere near 4 hours a day to download the workunits for 20 machines.

I don't understand this. What is driving you to "attend time" at all? I've got a 3.2 GHz Gallatin running S-39L through S40.03 for some days now--never has run out of work, certainly never needed intervention to get work. Could you explain a bit more about this and the "upload window" you mention?

Mark me genuinely perplexed.

So, err .... forgive me .... 'Grand Rapids Radio Observatory' and 'Tweakster' are one and the same?
Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike,

A little convoluted, but I think that GRRO replied in depth (and in haste) and then went back and edited away until nothing was left. Just guessing here... :-)

Yes, my initial response was

Yes, my initial response was basically a bit rude and assumed some facts not in evidence.

Tweakster and myself are completely different persons - I in fact have no idea who he is, nor likely he I. Our only common denominator aside from doing E@H is that we both have just over 20 machines available to each of us.

And you both joined on the same day!! :-)
I thought 'someone' was answering themselves in a different persona ( well, you cant' rule it out ), aahh the joys of electronic communication..... :-)
So Tweakster is wondering why it takes 4 hours per day to download WU's for 20 machines. What's "Boikly Junk" ?
Cheers, Mike.

Umm.. okay, I'll admit to be a little strange at times, but I really do have better things to do then post and respond to myself on message boards. Really. ;-)

Anyway, hazarding a guess based on phonetics, I'd say "Boikly" is supposed to be a variant of "Berkeley", as in California, USA where the Seti@Home project is run from. I've no idea on the significance though unless it's some reference to BOINC itself.

Try speaking it. Sounds like a classical (legendary ?) Noo Yoiker's pronunciation to me. But then I'm just a Dutch/Englishman.

You'd have to go back and

You'd have to go back and read some of his older messages to "understand". And even if you did read them (I read a few) you might not want to understand. :)
