It really makes me wonder why, in this day and age of technology, that we still have people living in 1800's style of housing!
I think that maybe we could have some sort of 'windfall' event where those people would have a chance to 'get-out-of-their-rut' and join at least the 20th century, if not the 21st century.
When I was still working as a F/F I went to visit my dad one day and he said drive this way so we went by the 21st century Fire Station the county had just finished building not 4 blocks from his home. It was VERY nice, but what he wanted to show me was next door, a guys living in a home with No water and NO plumbing AT ALL!! He went to the bathroom in an outhouse!! It turns out the local neighborhood watch group and the Fire Station Volunteers had worked thru the County to not only connect the home to the local water supply AND plumbing but the local volunteer F/F's rebuilt the home from the ground up so the guy had a brand new home with running water and a working toilet inside it!! ...
The point of this is my dad's home was worth in the mid $400's at the time and this guys home was not 4 blocks away, so it's not like these places are miles away from where most of us live.
That's good... and sad at the same time. Good story though!
70's earlier today but there is a freeze alert for my whole area, 4 Counties, until Saturday morning when it should warm-up again. It will be above freezing during the day but close to the 20's at night.
Ocean Isle Beach, NC just North of the NC/SC border on the Coast
Temp 28 degrees but going up into the mid 40's later today
Due to the humidity we could get some frozen ice on some windshields
It will warm up over the next couple of days then we will be back into the low 20's for lows by the middle of the week with daily highs pushing the mid 50's.
No Snow predicted for me or the rest of the NC/SC Beaches again this Winter.
In two weeks though our Lows will be in the mid 40's and the Highs pushing the mid 60's, it's the Beach after all and the Sun warms things up quickly here!!
Los Angeles, I like Sunday for January: Sunny, with a high near 74. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon. Sunday Night:Mostly clear, with a low around 48. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
