The 10 day forecast predicts over night lows below freezing the last two days of the forecast.
Apparently we are getting fall rain off and on too
Today is Nov 18th, Monday.
Its Raining. Steady but not heavy. Tomorrow the cold front hits. Lows around Freezing.
Its Tuesday. And it has stopped raining. And the Wind is no longer blowing with gusts up to 50+ mph.
What you had yesterday will be here at the Beach tomorrow, today it's 53F and overcast but the Sun is trying to come thru, they say it might get into the mid 70's today but it better get busy!! My pond is glass like smooth with the little alligator, the Egrets, the small and large Herons all having moved on to other ponds for their food supply right now. The turtles and fish left in my pond are very glad they are gone.
The small flying birds are of course still here and emptying the feeders about every 2 days and what they don't like and throw on the ground the crows and other birds too big to land on the feeders eat off the ground.
It's 57F this morning going up to about 68F later on today before dropping for the rest of the week. Wed 65, Thurs 70, Fri 55, Sat 48, sun 52, Mon 39, Tues 44 and Wed 45. It's about time for our first freeze of the season though so this isn't unusual for us, in fact come the end of Dec start of January we have gotten below freezing temps that last several days before popping up into the mid 50's again like nothing ever happened.
All the local heating/AC companies are rushing to have drawings for people without a working heat/AC system so they can make their usual tax deductions. They always show the people that win and some of those 'homes' are like what you think of in the 1800's as far as split boards from the local trees with HUGE gaps between them for the weather and animals to come thru and yet most have a screen door on them. To win all you have to do is have someone call in your home as needing a system and you could win. I'm not sure some of those people can afford the electricity to run the system though!! NC has some of the poorest people in the US mostly due to their locations not being suitable for any kind of commercial development or building due to the landscape either being up the side of a mountain or in a valley that floods about every other year.
It really makes me wonder why, in this day and age of technology, that we still have people living in 1800's style of housing!
I think that maybe we could have some sort of 'windfall' event where those people would have a chance to 'get-out-of-their-rut' and join at least the 20th century, if not the 21st century.

When I was still working as a F/F I went to visit my dad one day and he said drive this way so we went by the 21st century Fire Station the county had just finished building not 4 blocks from his home. It was VERY nice, but what he wanted to show me was next door, a guys living in a home with No water and NO plumbing AT ALL!! He went to the bathroom in an outhouse!! It turns out the local neighborhood watch group and the Fire Station Volunteers had worked thru the County to not only connect the home to the local water supply AND plumbing but the local volunteer F/F's rebuilt the home from the ground up so the guy had a brand new home with running water and a working toilet inside it!! The deal was once the owner died the Volunteers would take over the home and use it for whatever they wanted to use it for. The owner had no living relatives and was just living out his days in the family home, the F/F's from the Station would go over every day and check on him already so they were good friends and knew his situation and he was well aware they wanted his property for the Volunteers. In fact HE was a Volunteer F/F back in the 1950's and 60's. The man enjoyed his last few years living in that home and the F/F's said you could see his smile from across the street until he died. The whole neighborhood turned out for his funeral, which they paid for, and had him buried in the Volunteer F/F section of the local Cemetery.
The point of this is my dad's home was worth in the mid $400's at the time and this guys home was not 4 blocks away, so it's not like these places are miles away from where most of us live.

This observation also perfectly fits to where I am. We have to endure this...

The forecast for Monday mentions 22 F lows.
But none of the severe moisture either coast has gotten or will be getting. Much less the wind.
No Earthquakes either.
