Paul is talking about an error code that I found in Ricky's errored-out WU, here, and couldn't find a reference to it in the Wiki. In Ricky's Boinc folder will be some files with ".txt" suffix, named stderr...txt and stdout...txt.

Paul,

Thank you for checking up on this. Do you want the Ricky's log files for the Daemon or the GUI or all of them.

I'll make it a little clearer for him next time he checks in exactly what is needed and how to go about zipping and sending them; I think he'd like to learn what went wrong and that he'll do what is needed to help sort it out.

Michael

Hi Mickael,

I can check in from time to time but can't tie up the Company's phone lines to lomg so as you find out what I need to do i'll make a note of it and tomorrow i'll have most of the day to work on correcting it or whatever needs to take place.

Is there any plans to make it where the messages are dated so we know when someone places a post? Maybe it would need to be a "DateTime Stamp" type thingy.

Ricky

Ricky,

I don't know about dating the messages from manager, but the error logs that Paul would like to have are in the Boinc folder, the ones that begin with "std". I have 4 of them in my folder. I think that Windows has a built-in Zip utility. If you right-click on one of those "ste....txt" files there should be an option for creating a "Zip" or compressed file, and another for adding to a Zip or compressed file. If you create a Zip file somewhere easy for you to locate (NOT on the desktop, if you're on a company computer), you can add each of the std files to that Zip and then email it to Paul as an attachment.

Let me know if there are any problems with this.

Generally speaking I look at

Generally speaking I look at all 4, the GUI ones usually don't have anything new. But, the errdae and outdae don't always have the complete story on their own ...

So, it is just easier to say, get them all ... then I look at specific problems if noted in the e-mail, or just queue them up for later looks.

At the moment, I am in the midst of one of those "spells" where I can only seem to wrok for an hour or two ...

Those 4 are the logfiles we've been talking about. Were you able to create a zipfile and copy them into it? That is the next step.

Ricky,

First, make sure that the files were copied to the zipfile, i.e., that the 4 are also still in your Boinc folder. If not, it may interfere with future boinc operation. If they're absent from the boinc folder, just double-click the zipfile and direct it to unzip to the boinc folder.

Once you've made sure they're in there, send the zipfile (which will still contain the files intact) as an attachment to Paul Buck, email - .

Paul will go analyze them when he has time, and add the information to the BoincWiki, which will benefit us all.

Thank you for your contribution and cooperation, Ricky.

EDIT: I was right. Here it is:

OK got it and it's on it's way. I named it BOINC.zip

Ricky

Now that I got that done I need to find out why P@H will not run on my desktop. I was planning on attaching P@H to my desktop because it has smaller WUs. Then just let the two laptops handle S@H because they do a wu in 2 hours and some change. I thought I could just attach P@H to my desktop like you can do with E@H and S@H but all i get is "client errors". I do know when I 1st try to download the P@H that I was dropped in the middle of the download by my ISP. I'm thinking that could have caused it so I detached and reattached and still didn't work.
