In addition to the version numbers, it would be nice if the "test version" page, http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/app_test.php, also showed the version date.

I believe there has only been the one release.

Future enhancement then? :-)

Some. We are currently awaiting another fix in the BOINC lib before we build and publish a new App.

I've noticed a recurring

I've noticed a recurring (persistent) anomalous deference in communication whose duration is always 1 minute and 1 second. It's accompanied by a red dot over the BOINC logo in the notification area of the task bar, instead of the usual blue dot:

Quote:
--- - 2005-09-17 05:03:48 - May run out of work in 0.10 days; requesting more
Einstein@Home - 2005-09-17 05:03:48 - Requesting 13885 seconds of work
Einstein@Home - 2005-09-17 05:03:48 - Sending request to scheduler: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
Einstein@Home - 2005-09-17 05:03:51 - Scheduler RPC to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded
Einstein@Home - 2005-09-17 05:03:51 - Deferring communication with project for 1 minutes and 1 seconds

Possibly related: Internet service was down long enough for all WUs to run to 100% completion. When service was restored, I forced a retry on the uploads (no problem) and then I right-clicked the whole project and selected 'update'. In the past I've noticed that this can lead to requests for more work which are denied, since the last request was too recent – usually the recent request is deferred for a time and then all is well, but on this occasion there's the persistent deference, and each time this follows a successful request for more work. Should I exit and restart BOINC, or reboot the system, or let it run as such?

OK, i had to use the beta

OK, i had to use the beta code because the current version won't run on my laptop with an "unrecoverable error". However, the beta-code is *way* slower than some older version. With the old version it took about 12 hours on my laptop for one WU to complete, now it takes more than 17 hours.
Somehow this doesn't feel right.

My system:
System FUJITSU SIEMENS LIFEBOOK E4010
CPU = 1 x Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1400MHz at ~1399 MHz
Physical Memory = 502 MB
Windows 2000 with service pack 4 and all recent patches installed
Boinc version 4.45 with beta 0.03 code installed and running ("Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform").
Internet always available.

Cheers, Alex.

I just posted a new Window

I just posted a new Window App (0.18) for beta testing. It involves quite some fixes to the BOINC library, including the previous ATI graphics driver fix and a fix to some other problems (mainly general access violations) in conjunction with the graphics.

Please test and report!

Hello BM,
Very nice you posted it - although the 0.03 beta repaired my screensaver (yeah, the ATI Redeon issue), it was _very_ unstable (Windows memory fault error).

But I the version you posted includes a bad app_info.xml:
It is:

einstein

einstein_0.03_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.03_windows_intelx86.pdb

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.pdb

einstein
3

einstein_0.03_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.03_windows_intelx86.pdb

einstein
18

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.pdb

-----

It should probably be:

einstein

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.pdb

einstein
18

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.exe

einstein_0.18_windows_intelx86.pdb

What's wrong with it? I allows to smoothly migrate from the 0.03 to 0.18 App if you leave the einstein_0.03_... files in place as long as there are Results assigned to it.

Oh, sorry Bernd, I didn't know that..
Once I upgraded to 0.18, I was still seeing the einstein 0.03 version in BOINC mgr and thought the problem was app_info.xml.
But if you say it's ok I guess it is.
