Einstein 0.18 did'nt fixed an unrecoverable error, which occurs when sreensaver runs on my AMD Sempron(tm) 2400+ with Windows XP Professional, SP 2, and NIVIDA Geforce FX 5200 under 7.8.0.1. driver.
Before, I had the same error on Einstein 4.79 with older graphic card driver.
Other projects L@H and S@H work properly.
Messages from screen:
1.Application error. Memory can't be written.

Does this happen at random or when you do something? Or perhaps when BOINC does something? Check BOINC's log and see what else is happening around the same time as the error.
Besides the log, does the "Application error. Memory can't be written" message have any addresses associated with it? Like the instruction that gets the error? Would help a lot in figuring out where the error occurs.

Thank tou for reply.
Both cases relates to situation, when after night I'd like to activate sreen. Reported time of error 09:59:41 is exactly that moment, altghou suspected finish of this Einsein work unit was some hours before that time. No other application was running only BOINC but what else was happening according to BOINC's log and memory address I don't remember. I can exactly check tomorrow. It's pity that some hours of work will be lost that way. In such cases, after erros occurs it would be better to send smaller piecec of work to the user just for testing, if possible.
You might want to read Message 19067 on the Problems and Bug Reports : Unrecoverable error ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)) thread. It is another problem report related to Einstein 0.18.
Yesterday I additionally disabled 3 power supply saving options (screen, disc, system) and no error occured. I'm running now next calculations for giving you promised report by enabling this options. I should have it in about 8 hours, so be patient, hmmm ... drink some big coffe in the meantime ;).

If you don't mind trashing another workunit and wasting the CPU time, it would be nice to see if only one of those options is responsible. Can you enable them one at a tim? Like enable screen, then run a few WU's, enable disk than run a few WU's and finally enable system.
If BoincMgr doesn't show the error anymore you can look back at the older messages in the log file. Use Notepad to view the file "stdoutdae.txt" in the boinc folder and check what all BOINC was doing at the time the error occurred. Specifically, if it was suspending the E@H app, either because it was shutting down or starting a WU for another project.
As for the text in the message box, you don't need to recreate the problem to see what the message was, it should be in the application event log. Run the Event Viewer (click Start, Admiministrative Tools, Event Viewer), click Application in the left pane and you should see events in the right pane. Anything there pertaining to BOINC or the Einstein@Home application? You'll have to double-click "Application Error" events to see which application its complaining about.
Also check for other events around the same time as the E@H app error. Look in System Events also for any system events.

Hi Artur,
Thanks for the log, its very useful. If you check the message at 09/30 08:54:58, it says version 4.79 was running. That version does get 0xC0000005 errors like you had.
Check that the beta version was installed properly - look in the project folder for these files (also check the timestamp):
Hello Walt,
I'm sorry, I shoulded sign it that only second error happend with 0.18 version according to that:
2005-10-02 08:01:04 [Einstein@Home] Restarting result l1_1317.0__1317.4_0.1_T09_S4lB_2 using einstein version 0.18

I've got this 3 files in Einstein directory but timestamp of app_init.xml - is 09/18/2005 8:27PM not 8:37PM.
Before installing E 0.18 I suspended all projects, when no work was pending, closed BIOINC and copied these 3 files, but without restarting computer.
I don't know, maybe it is important, that I had'nt errors while other BOINC projects were suspended and I did'nt use the button "show graphics".
I'll run it in various configurations and report you eventually errors.

The project folder is at is at c:/program files/boinc/projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu if you installed BOINC using the default location.
If the files are there, did you stop and start BOINC? It only checks for app_info.xml files when it starts.
