Perfect- thank you! I didn't remember changing that in the previous cc_config.xml file but I must have at some point.

Thanks again

Seasonal Affective Disorder :

Seasonal Affective Disorder : one's mood ( affect ) goes down with less daylight hours during autumn/winter. Having a good lamp with roughly the spectral characteristics of the Sun is very useful in offsetting that, by inducing the brain to release extra serotonin. An absolute must for, say, an Antarctic base.

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

When I got up this morning

When I got up this morning and did my usual checking of my computers, I noticed something laying in the bottom of my 5950X computer case.  When I pulled it out, it was a fan blade from my 3080Ti, relatively new one at that, it is an EVGA RTX 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra.  The fan that came off of the hub is the one on the end, away from the HDMI cable connection.

Checking the temps right away, it might have gone up 5॰ C, now at 72-73॰ C (waffling back-n-forth).  As long as the temps are okay, I'm going to wait until after the holidays to RMA it.  Sticking my finger in (cautiously) to see if the fan hub was turning, and it was not, though the other two are.  I wonder if the fans on this GPU are magnetically controlled MagLev fans?

the 3080Ti FTW3 I just RMA'd

the 3080Ti FTW3 I just RMA'd was also for that same 3rd fan at the end of the card. mine was grinding and sometimes not running from the increased friction. I've seen many people on the EVGA forum complain about the FTW3 models (not just the 3080Ti) having this exact same kind of fan problem, almost always with the fan at the end of the card.

When you submit your RMA, first call them, dont do it online. second ask them for cross-ship RMA and ask them to send you a return shipping label. you will have to put a $1500 deposit on a credit card, and they will ship you a new card. then swap the cards so you have almost no downtime. Ship your old GPU back to them in the same box they sent the replacement in. when they get it back, you'll be credited back the $1500 within 7-10 days.

I did that, and it's the most smooth RMA experience with the least impact to your crunching, with the caveat of having a $1500 charge on your card for 2 weeks.

if you don't have an appropriate CC for the collateral charge, or just don't want to do that, you can still  do the standard RMA, but I would at least call and setup the RMA over the phone so you can ask for the return shipping label (they can email you a UPS label) and save yourself $20-30 in shipping costs.

Good advice, Ian.  Since it

Good advice, Ian.  Since it is so new, I'll still wait until the X-mas rush is over with.  1) I don't want it to get lost in the hub-bub of the mailings, and 2) I think that the people at EVGA may be on a much shortened holiday work schedule.  As I said, temps are okay so I can wait it out.

I don't wiether(sp) to laugh

I don't wiether(sp) to laugh or cry. I just spotted some Radeon VII's on eBay for $350...

And Radeon VII are still some of the popular Amd video cards in the top 50.

Mental Error.  Should have posted this in all things Radeon.
