A new Windows App is available from our Beta Test Page.

This App is hopefully the last go on resolving the checkpointing issues originally introduced with the 6.05 App (that never made it out of Beta status).

A full-featured switching App package (x87/SSE/SSE2) with the checkpointing code used in the 6.08 App.

Switching from previous Apps 6.04 - 6.08 should be painless with the included app_info.xml.

Please test and report.

So basically this is the speed of 6.07 combined with the support of 6.08, but without bugs?
Also, on a SSE2 host, is there any reason to upgrade from 6.07?

Finished this 6.09 task on

Finished this 6.09 task on the AMD64. Just about everything went as expected, there was an instance of "2008-12-08 03:08:02.3493 [normal]: INFO: Couldn't open checkpoint h1_0724.60_S5R4__320_S5R4a_0_0.cpt", but checkpointing afterward seems normal.

Also I'm curious about "Activated exception handling...

I'm guessing it's just settings for running the task.

Times seem to be in line with 6.05

Hi!

The "Couldn't open checkpoint" message is normal if (and only if) it appears when starting a fresh workunit (no saved work from previous processing of the same workunit). So it should only appear near the top of the client output.

The cryptic, longish thing you quoted is indeed the commandline that is passed to teh app, which is nice to have in the debugging output so it's easier to recreate any problem situations.

Alright, cool. Thanks for the explanation. I can see how handy that will be in the future for ya. It's interesting on my end too seeing some of the data involved in the task.

For those here that have a certain understanding of the physics behind all this: you can get a short summary of the semantics behind the available command line options by running the app standalone with the --help option.

I feel like an idiot, but

Message 88870 in response to message 88869

I feel like an idiot, but where is the default folder for 64 bit? The structure does not appear to be the same on my machine. I am having a problem finding the Einstein subfolder in the Boinc folder with a 64 bit Vista OS.

My 64 bit XP install folder looks the same as the Vista, so this appears to be an issue with 64 bit. I placed them in what appears to be the main folder, but BOINC manager did not show any messages about the new upgrade working. I clicked on the 6.09 graphics windows file and it shows a work unit 57% done but no credit for the user... it appears to be working on the unit via the graphic interface on 609.

So I am a bit confused if I have it working or not, or if there is a hidden folder in 64 bit I am not seeing...

Thanks for any help,

Jack

The Folder to place the Opti app for Vista is C:\Program Data\Boinc\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu for Boinc 6.2.19, if this is the pc you're taling about. The folder needs to be un-hidden in folder options.

Also seperate from this, E2180 dual core finished this 6.09 task in 12:43:28 in line with 6.05
