I notice you get the same AllocateAndInitializeSid Error 120 that I get on ME. So is this an OS blurp for 98/ME?

I haven't seen this behavior before: beginning at skypoint 234 it goes all the way to skypoint 268 before it takes another checkpoint. After that, it goes from 269 to 288 before the next checkpoint. The rest seem more or less normal.

This was on a switch-over WU. The first 16 skypoints processed by 6.07, then switched to 6.09.

Hmm...could this be related to Windows correcting the real-time clock setting from a time server at that tmoment during the computation?

Unlikely. Looking at the clock app in the taskbar it says last time update occurred 12/7/08 @ 1:21 pm, next at 12/14/08... The weirdness happened later.

Seti Classic Final Total: 11446 WU.

I installed the 6.09 beta

I installed the 6.09 beta version. I have previously been using 6.2.19 for Windows. I placed the items in the ZIP file in my BOINC folder, which is located at C:\Program Files\BOINC, not C:\Program\Files\BOINC\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu. I don't have a 'projects" folder, but rather a "locale" folder. With the exception of having a different BOINC pathway to drop the beta files into, I believe I followed the installation directions exactly. When I start up BOINC Manager, I don's see a message saying "Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform", nor do I see
new work being assigned to the new App einstein_S5R4_6.09. I see my 6.2.19 client version starting.

Did I mess something up there?

The folder you need to place the app_info.xml and files included with it for your OS and Boinc version is in a hidden folder that you first have to enable to view in Folder Options which is located in Control Panel.

The folder you're looking for is in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Boinc\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu

Oddly, when I dropped those files in the correct location (Thanks!), client version 6.2.19 still starts up.

I think you're confusing the new opti app 6.09 with the current Boinc version that you're using 6.2.19

If you look in Windows Task Manager you should be able to see the 6.09 app running in the process window when you runing Boinc.

Any luck with the graphics?

Yes, that's normal. 6.2.19 is the version number of BOINC (the management and cotrol program), which hasn't changed as a result of installing the Einstein specific Beta test science applications being discussed here.

Since you're running Windows, the easiest way to check is to open the Task Manager (right-click on the blue bar at the bottom of your screen), and look for anything with 'Einstein' in its name in the list on the 'Processes' tab. If you make the column wide enough, you should be able to see the version number too, as part of the process name.

I apologize for the confusion. I have no expereince or knowledge about the computational mechanics of BOINC that goes on in the background. But, when using the Task Manager, I see it. Thanks, and thank you too Richard, for pointing this out.

No luck with the graphics unfortuately. I think I am about to thrown in the towel on this one...

I'm getting about a 13% to 20% improvement on my crunching times with 6.09. Thanks a bunch.
