Only that it's been taken down in a rather nasty way, which really messes up any host which still has LHC work to crunch or upload, and isn't much better if you're trying to get new work.

There was quite a discussion about it on the BOINC Dev boards.....

.....until they went down as well.

Yes, but that's standard - SETI project maintenance (database backups etc.) are done on Tuesday mornings these days.

Given those two events, could it be that LHC is attempting the server-side code upgrade????

It could be that the machines got top heavy with all the 0.00x pending WU's and the machine fell over!

Or a stray bean from a missadjusted magnet drilled a hole through one of the CPUs....

Or a stray bean

This is really bad... I've been doing so much Java stuff today that when I saw "stray bean", I was like, well what's it doing unmanaged outside of a package? BTW, I *hate* trying to make things work when the instructions don't even follow reality. Anyone got any experience with Spring Framework and building with Ant trying to publish to Tomcat 6?

:sigh:

I know ya meant stray beam, but....

Oh, and yeah, the 0-mass could be an issue... ;-)

Ah well ...... I recently put the Spring plugin [ silly me, just being curious, to see what it does ] in to my NetBeans ( 6.01 ) and it blew the Pfoofer Valve - missing/broken links, bad SAXE ( whatever that is ... ), modular unhappiness - so I'm re-installing the whole Neatbeans IDE again now. I conclude Spring is not stable .....

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) ..... and as regards LHC, maybe they've found the Top Quirk ....

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

Hmmm... Well, I have the Spring IDE already in Eclipse, but this was trying to actually get Spring 2.5.2 to cooperate. I think the, ummmm, "problem", was that I didn't follow the directions... :-(

I'm about to try again tonight...

The only possible incompatibility is ANT and Tomcat 6, but anyway...

On topic: Perhaps the lawsuit has made them shut down temporarily??? Some of the more fringe scientists are claiming that the LHC could produce all kinds of nasty things, and so they're throwing up lawsuits as roadblocks...

It's strange.. I've been getting LHC work and returning it all day.

The site still says "down for maintenance"!
