Well, another week and the website still says "down for maintenance", but I got another batch of work yesterday!
It would be kind of nice to see if the work was really meant to go out....
Does anybody have a way of contacting the LHC folks to see what's going on?
G'Day azwoody,
No I don't know how to contact them, I would also like to know if what we are doing is getting credit or added to the pile of 'pending' work units we all have.
Plus due to LHC going offline and causing my Boinc install to crash (I found this out after), I need to check my computer stats to merge computers as thinking the crash was Boinc I installed a new version (5.10.45) and wiped everything I had. This created new computers on all projects and I can't get into LHC to check them.

Yes, credits are being granted - compare your current 'user total' in BOINC Manager with the last figures on any external stats site. Mine has gone up by ~1,700 since the website went offline - that will be new work downloaded, crunched, returned and validated, so new science is being done as well, which IMO is more important than the credits.
I don't think so - and without a website I can't think of a way to check.
I have several machines getting work from time to time. This has been going on for days. It seems to be far too persistent to be just cleanup work/resends.
I'm actually getting to the point of frustration where I think I'll just set NNT on all my LHC connected machines. It's quite OK to lock people out for a reason. It's pretty poor form not to at least put a small summary of the problem on the lockout page so that we at least have an inkling of what the problem is.
One thing that occured to me is that it might not be new work, even though there's been quite a bit of it.
Could it be that the 3 year old "moldy" one are finally getting resent and completed? Again, no way to tell without ANY information from the project.... I kind of doubt it, but it would be nice to see a cleaned up results list when the website comes back up!

For curiosity, I just now tried to get work from them, but received a "Project is down" message.

I had four tasks from them this morning, but they all ran for less than a minute. The last scheduler contact resulted in
lhcathome 03/04/2008 13:10:37 Message from server: Project encountered internal error: shared memory
That didn't used to happen with old versions of the BOINC server code, did it? Maybe they are upgrading to a newer version.

Well, I just got 3 more WU, so, these are likely just "no consensus" work to clean up from the last run ...
