Winning on my new laptop

Winning on my new laptop :)

Hmmmm... and I guess I should say I'm heading back to Korea just as soon as they manage to process my visa application.

Luna Rossa!
Tullio

Luna rossa, con la fine di Venus del pianeta vicino? Quello è che cosa ho pensato che abbia visto la notte scorsa...
(I used Babel Fish, hopefully correctly)

No, Luna Rossa is a sailboat racing the Louis Vuitton Cup, whose winner will contend to Alinghi the America's Cup in June. The races are held in Valencia, Spain, and Emirates New Zealand is racing against Desafio Espanol, with a 4 to 2 score. The boat which reaches 5 victories will race against Luna Rossa, sponsored by Prada. The next full moon will be blue, nor red (see skytonight.com). Cheers

Ah, I see. Thanks, Tullio. I should have googled instead of translated. :) Have you done any sailing?

My Dad taught me to sail (in my early 'teens) with an O'Day Daysailer, about 18 feet long (IIRC), not too big, had a center-board that could be raised and lowered, instead of a keel. It was a lot of fun, but haven't been sailing since...

For the races you mentioned, are there strict regulations on the shape of the hull and types of sails? Are they allowed to use equipment like this?

I am (better, I was) rather a mountaineer than a sailor but I have a brother who was both a professional sea captain and a sailor who has won the Giraglia race in the Thyrrenian Sea. Then he married and sailed no more, except on large ships like the Michelangelo of which he was chief mate before it was scrapped and sold to Iran. America's Cup boats have very strict design rules for their hulls made of carbon fibers and their sails, made of kevlar, include Genoa jibs, spinnakers and gennakers, a mixture of the two used while sailing downwind. They are very costly to design, build and maintain and have a crew of 17 people, also costly. Many of them are Americans, like Paul Cayard from San Francisco, and New Zealanders. The crew of Luna Rossa has 5 Italians only, the others come from six nationalities. So competing in Americas's Cup is possible only to boats sponsored by firms like BMW, Oracle, Prada, etc, which do it for marketing reasons.

Good morning (just) to you Chris. Glad to see you no longer need a proxy!

Rather dull and uninspiring today, for the weather and a typical working day Monday?

Yup, finally scored enough

Yup, finally scored enough credit to stand up and be recognised. Miserable wet day down here, and a real shame about the Cutty Sark as well. I see Seti is off air again, not having much luck recently are they?

Got any AMD rigs? there is an Einstein hack/fix over in the NC board.
