Well, see fo yourself. I get validate errors like there is no tomorrow. Please check and see if the source of the problems comes from the beta app.http://einsteinathome.org/host/681633/tasks&offset=80

I found "infinity" numbers in the result files the machine sent back, i.e. in the ones already marked as validate error and in a few your host sent back after them, too. However recent results from this machine (l1_1014.0_S5R1__285_S5R1a_0, id=38625736) look fairly ok. Looks like a (temporary) overheated CPU to me.

I just did what RenaudKener

I just did what RenaudKener did, and deleted the old app and restarted the comp. Now, finally, BOINC found the app_info file!

Bernd Wonderful speed up.

Bernd
Wonderful speed up. Went from 10hrs per result to 6hrs 40min per result.
The two results I just did with the new app contain lots and lots of x's.
If this is the norm then I guess that routine needs some attention too.

I have tested 2 WU's from the l1_1336.0_..... serie.
1 using 4.02 and 1 using 4.24.
Both WU's was running with the same conditions.
On a P4 3066MHz. - Solo. - And in one go without stop.
The WU using 4.02 took 11 h 20 m (40800 sec) to complete. Done with Success.
The WU using 4.24 took 7 h 6 m (25560 sec) to complete. Done with Success.

First 4.24 WU done in just

First 4.24 WU done in just under 30000 sec. and validated.
All previous h1_1391.0 WUs were about 44000 sec.
(Athlon XP 2000+)
Almost a third of the time shaved off. Excellent!

Great speed up on my P4

Great speed up on my P4 1.8.
I compared 3 WUs in the h1_1308 series, all validated and all 176.10 credits granted. Two stock ones did 74k sec, the third one is optimized and did only 45k sec. Another optimized one is looking to go in the same direction. That's almost a 40% improvement!!
My compliments to the team!

Thank you ever so much Bernd for attending this issue. Indead, I have changed the ventilation mechanism for that machine, so it might well have been an overheated system. The system temperatures have risen my concern, too. So, I am happy to see that these bad results are likely not be caused by a beta app error.

Thanks and cheers

After the first three results

After the first three results returned, I have about 35% speed-up on my Athlon XP (2.1GHz) from 35k9s to 23k2s. However, I'm still waiting for the second result to be returned in all three so I don't know whether they have validated or not yet.

I've changed over my other machine (P4 3GHz HT) just now, but it hasn't returned any results yet.

I experienced a similar issue to those described above, having run the 4.02 app since its release. After following the install instructions to the letter (Win2kPro, running BOINC 5.4.11), I watched closely during the transition to the subsequent WUs. It continued running the 4.02 app. The only way I could get the 4.24 app to be recognized was to remove the 4.02 files from my folder.

Since then I've been posting valid results with a similar 30%-ish increase in speed (Athlon 2200XP+ @~1.83 gig).
