Hi everyone, first of all it's great to see betas coming early in the science run, the days remaining should start to melt away.

Am I reading your Latin phrase as;

Entia, they are not multipying beyond necessity....if wrong, please correct me

thks in advance...

Hello Stan Pleban.
The classic translation is: Entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity.
Webster's unabriged dictionary (2nd edition) defines Occam's razor as such:
"the maxim that assumptions introduced to explain a thing must not be multiplied beyond necessity". Also know as principle of simplest explanation.

Interesting enough, Albert Einstein himself phrased it like that:
"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler" [I quote from memory, forgive me if I made an error].

Yes, Occam's (or Ockam's) razor is an "axiom" of modern science. Nobel prize Richard P. Feynman wrote wonderfull pages about it in his lectures and also in his famous "Feynman lectures on physics".

Engineers sumarize it with this acronym: KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid :-)

"Entia non sunt multiplicandam praeter necessitatem"
(OKHAM)

I have downloaded two WUs this morning. No problem until now. The first Wu is at 28% in 3h15'. That's ~ 11.5 hours per WU.
Good job.

My A64x2 2.55gig has gone

My A64x2 2.55gig has gone from 22credit/hour to 26credit/hour, which is only a 15% speedup. OTOH my box had a DCF of .5 using the stock app, which would imply that it's limitations hurt p4's more severely to begin with.

I checked your results and i saw that all of them was produced by 4.02, perhaps your measurement wasn't perfect.

Correct. I keep a 3day cache due to occasional weekend ISP outages, so I used the rename the app technique described below to start using the new app immediately.
