Well this is my first time posting on Einstein's boards. Used to be an avid reader on the Old Seti Classic boards before it disolved. I'm not much of a poster, but I wanted to see how things were going here. I haven't posted but maybe 4 or 5 times on the seti forums mostly because the layout doesn't make much sense to me.
I was going to pull all my systems from Seti when they killed the Classic and I started running Einstein@home about 6 months before classic shut down as a hedge for having my systems doing something productive. Right now I'm running my 2 slowest systems on both projects and leaving my main system free of Boinc. I got tired of all the flamewars, and us vs them discussions a LONG time ago. So far from what I've seen on these boards it looks to be a lot friendlier.
Just another cruncher doing his small part.
Welcome to the peace and quiet of the E@H Cafe. pull up a chair. Ovaltine (hot or cold) is served freely.
God... when you think it can't get any worse. Why do they even bother giving us that boincmods address? It's their polite way of making you think you're going to get somewhere when there's no way they're going to answer you, and it justifies them search-and-modding your posts.
Would that be an Ovaltine using whisky instead of milk?
Hmmm. Interesting!
Recently I found out from an elderly Scottish friend of mine about a 'Staircase Shandy'. This is where you mix methylated spirits with milk and then bubble methane through it. Then you drink it!
The idea came from the Great Depression ( that's in last century/millenium for you young un's ), when no one had much money. The milk was the most expensive bit, the metho bought from a hardware store, and the methane gas came from the 'coal' gas piped in to the 'council' estates to the 'common' lighting fixtures. You had to pay for the gas used ( metered ) in your own flat but on the staircases the lighting was provided for by the council ie. free to the beneficiaries. Get a tube of some sort attach it to the lamp then bubble away. Alas many tragedies ensued from this highly dangerous behaviour. So 'chroming' isn't that new at all!
Cheers, Mike.

So, since I've been away for a while, I'm now to understand the mods at SETI have been fully enagged in flame wars and whatnot?
