Hi Jim,

I saw the post you made at the time and I thought it was very good. I nearly copied it and put it in it's own thread. Try to look at what happened in Rocky's as the lancing of a boil. Maybe now the healing can begin.

(although saying that I haven't read the boards over there today, but it was very peaceful overthere yesterday.)

Anyway, stay here in the the Einstein retreat to you feel ready to come home. We'll be waiting for you.

Thanks very much, Es. I'm gratified to hear you say both things. Yours is the only other comment over my leaving except for a mod saying "we didn't lose Tony". I had meant Byron, actually. Though that may be wrong too.

I see it like leaving a long term relationship that used to be beautiful but has since gone sour. At one point, you just have to take a deep breath and walk away. It was very hard for me to do it.

Thanks again for the thoughtful comments.

Jim

Tread carefully Lord Vader, lest you attract ire of Webmaster Yoda. 8-)

That breathing sound is a dead give away, but you may have a chance. The time it takes the great Webmaster Yoda to complete a sentance, you might have him. 8-0.

It is of no concern. Soon the Rebellion will be crushed and young Skywalker will be one of us! Your work here is finished, my friend. Go out to the command ship and await my orders.

The RAC on the command ship is dropping so I came here. ;-)

Beach Bum I don't think that you changed your resources to einstein because of the so called clique, be fair mate! When did any of the cafe crew offend you?

Monday

I have been offended by the crew over there more than once. If you look back thruogh my stats history you will see I have been pulling machines for a couple months now. But with the release of Enhanced, and the faulty app,(ie hanging and looping), the censorship by the mods, and the outright attack on yet another person that has put a lot into the project there. I finally called it quits all together. There will be no more donation, no more use of my machines for SETI.

You just don't go from cranking 4K RAC a day to shutting down for nothing.

And as far as my resources. I didn't bring the majority of my machines to Einstein. Most of them are on other projects.

Fair enough Beach Bum. Thanks for the reply. On reflection I should not have said anything. I apologise. (reboots brain)

(smiles) Nothing really to apoligize for Monday. With everything going on I think most are a bit on the defensive.

I know a lot of the credit hungry have jumped here since the rework at SETI. And I will admit, I like the extra credit as well. But thats not what it is all about. It makes for fun competition, but the real issue is what the project is doing.
After losing more than one family member to cancer, and one to AIDS. I choose a lot of my projects on what could help others. To not have to go through what my family has been through. If one of my machines has had a hand in helping cure or help treat one of these problems, then that is worth all the electricty and broken equipment. As far as Einstein , well I think that what they are doing has a bit more scientific value than what SETI is doing. If it was not for that, all my machines would be on the health related projects. Don't get me wrong, as SETI does have a wonderful objective, but is not highly likely to be found in our lifetime.

So you see, not all of us are credit mongers that only care for credits and whine when we don't get them, lol.

Oh and by the way Monday, here are my best 5 days when I was running SETI full force, lol. You can double check them if you like at Boinc Stats.

Well this is my first time

Well this is my first time posting on Einstein's boards. Used to be an avid reader on the Old Seti Classic boards before it disolved. I'm not much of a poster, but I wanted to see how things were going here. I haven't posted but maybe 4 or 5 times on the seti forums mostly because the layout doesn't make much sense to me.
I was going to pull all my systems from Seti when they killed the Classic and I started running Einstein@home about 6 months before classic shut down as a hedge for having my systems doing something productive. Right now I'm running my 2 slowest systems on both projects and leaving my main system free of Boinc. I got tired of all the flamewars, and us vs them discussions a LONG time ago. So far from what I've seen on these boards it looks to be a lot friendlier.

Just another cruncher doing his small part.

A big warm welcome to all

A big warm welcome to all those who decided to give Einstein some spare cycles no matter what your RAC is. Cheers and Happy Crunching!
