Thank you, Rudy. Would you happen to know how I need to go about getting the proper calibration application going so I'm claiming the right amount of credits?

sure, This link has some

sure,

This link has some options at the bottom.

http://einstein.terrorfront.info/en/index.htm

There is another whole thread describing the BoincStudio.

Personally I've used Crunch3R's 5.5.0 on one machine, but that's no longer available.

On two other machines I used Boinc 5.4.9 with Trux. The only special thing to make this combo work is not to copy the boinc.dll from Trux. Just leave the one you get with boinc 5.4.9

Okay, You're in danger of losing me in the woods here. I need the 'for dummies' instructions. Also, this calibration application, is it going to affect my other projects in ANY WAY whatsoever? I run seti, rosetta, predictor, lhc, and chess960. I'm also wondering if I should use that RaR one or the Trux one. Thanks again.

In BoincStudio, you can chose, which projects would be calibrated and which dont.

I've got the calibration by Trux downloaded somewhere but don't know how to do what Rudy said and not use the trux dll thing . Like I said, I need the dummies instructions.

on this boincstudio thing, which I've not heard of, why, what, would I choose to calibrate and not and so on? Seriously, I've spent about 6 weeks trying to figure this out and just can't get the proper 1,2,3 instructions. You can scroll up near the top of this thread to see what I've been thru.
Without extremely detailed instructions you might as well be telling me to go build a nuclear reactor in my backyard....seriously. lol

Ok, step by step Instuctions

Ok, step by step
Instuctions for getting Trux .36 to work with Einstein and Boinc 5.4.9

Make sure you have Boinc 5.4.9

Stop all Boinc programs. (check your task manager to be sure, look for anything call boinc...)

Copy all the trux files into your boinc subdirectory EXCEPT for the file called boinc.dll which is not compatible with boinc 5.4.9

Edit the trux file call truxoft_pref.xml and change the second line that asks to calibrate all to:
Einstein@Home

If you want trux to calibrate for other projects see trux's documentation.

Restart Boinc

From what I've read BoincStudio sounds good, but since I did this before BoincStudio was available, and it works, I have not changed it.

hi rob i also use akosf`s

hi rob
i also use akosf`s app (d/loaded it about 2 weeks ago)
i do not use a callibrated client as (PLEASE DONT SHOOT ME DOWN IN FLAMES )
1)
i have heard that they could take up to 30 w/u to claim "correct" credit
and
2)
i have read this on one of the other forums
it is from bruce himself

"In a few weeks when we start doing analysis of LIGO/GEO S5 data, we plan to start widely distributing optimized applications containing Akos's modifications. We will also begin to award credit in a more uniform way: the credit awarded for 'the same length' workunits will be predetermined by the project and will be the same for everyone.

This system should be fairer for everyone."

so by the time I compleat 30 w/u we should be into s5 and a callibrated client would be no good for ME
(yes i know that boinc studio will do more than just callibrate )
you can still ues the app for your specific processer
but a callibrating client would not be needed

Ahh, ok. So it looks like it should take care of itself by the time it actually benefitted me anyway. One less step I have to do then. :-)

Thanks Paul, Kirsty, Rudy.

Now, as far as picking the correct app for my 2nd and 3rd computers, which should I use?

2nd machine is a 500mhz 256ram celeron running winME.

3rd machine is a 2.4gig 512ram celeron running winxpSP2.

Once I know which of these apps to d/l for these last 2 machines I should be all set so again, thank you very much. Anyone that can tell me precisely which apps I need would help alot.

Again, I am amazed at how einstein now flies through units. On my athlon 3,000+ it was taking about 5 hours a unit. Now it's right at 1 hour almost exactly.
