You know you CAN change the behavior of the fan header that fan is connected to in the UEFI.

Don't select the cpu temp as the feedback source, choose the motherboard temp sensor.

Or use a more moderate fan curve that does not ramp the speed until extreme temps.

Or use a fixed rpm of lower value that is not so noisy.

If sufficient air is not moving past the VRM's they get too hot and trigger an audible alarm that is much louder than the somewhat noisy fan I already have.

The fan I have on order claims a DB level that google says is the equivalent of a quiet house.  And appears to have a CFM almost as high as the fan I am replacing it with.

Who knows.  Maybe the manufacture knows what they are talking about.

I would suggest fans from the company "be quiet". They are really, really quiet and move a good amount of air. I only have good things to say about their fans. Here is the link:

be quiet! Silent Wings 4 120mm PWM High Speed 2500 RPM Premium Low Noise Cooling Fan | 4-Pin | BL094

If my current on order replacement fan doesn't work this will be my next choice. It has the CFM I need to keep the VRM's cool.

Love There are 2 of those

Love

There are 2 of those that I love, it is an old ABIT BP6 & VP6. Those 2 boards were some of the 1st use of dual-CPU non-workstation boards, which made life in WinXP so much desirable: no lockouts. As you always had 2nd CPU, so there were no WinXP lockouts. I learned a lot, using those while using them.

Like

There were plenty of workhorses used for crunching, but recently came to admire those Intel xx35xx boards. Those are sturdy, robust & they work great - even NOW!

Hate

Well, there are few to mention. One in particular is Supermicro PDSME board, which I fried 3 of them before replacing to Intel ones (which I still use).

I nominate this MB as a potential candidate for the Epyc 9000 CPU to what the Epycd8 MB has been for 7001/7002 generations.

Yeah it's price is within reach even if the CPU's aren't.
