It’s really not that

It’s really not that comparable because the CPU is doing FGRP work while the GPUs are doing slower and more intensive BRP7 work.

a more apt comparison (kinda) would be to compare the GPU performance on the FGRP project (now out of work), which had a 3080Ti about 2-3x faster than that dual CPU system.

the CPU system only looks more impressive by comparison after all GPUs had to switch to an app which cut their production/RAC by more than half.

And when was the last time we

And when was the last time we have had any pure CPU system in the top 50?

The bottom of the top 50 seems to always be within yelling distance of 1M so it still is impressive.

I assume that you are speaking of RAC.  And would this be what you're talking about?

Armin Burkhardt speaking for MPI/FKF  with his 5 computers all running AMD EPYC 9554 CPUs with NO GPUs?

I only have good things to

I only have good things to say about the 5xxx series TR for CPU work. Really, really amazing CPU. Hopefully can get our hands on a 7xxx series at some point.

I almost posted this in humor.

If this is true it would be a game changer. And it would put serious price pressure on Nvidia's stock valuation. Much less the price of its AI GPU's and Hopper/GPU combo's.  I wonder if it would also do a number on Amd and Intel's AI aspirations.

Now if they could actually get anything on the market....

We have been eagerly awaiting a CPU from them for years and they have yet to release one even though they have talked about their amazing product for years. IF they do every release a CPU or GPU it MIGHT be amazing. But, they do not have a proven track record.
