No problem with boinc 6.6.31

No problem with boinc 6.6.31 (which runs as 6.6.29) on my SuSE Linux 10.3. But the Arecibo graphics looks better and more readable.

I have a problem I didn't see mentioned. The screensaver and graphics appear to function correctly but the text looks more like cryllic alphabet or bar codes than english letters

I'm posting a little late on this one but just saw it. The text went nuts like this for me exactly as you describe when I upgraded my system to the 32-bit Windows 7 RC. The 64-bit Windows 7 didn't do it and it had worked fine under XP.

Sorry if I've put this in the

Sorry if I've put this in the wrong thread, I'm an EXTREMELY slow reader :(
I have both seti@home and einstein@home running and would like to know if I am able to choose between which is displayed on the screensaver. When I preview the screenie is shows only seti. To this day I've not been able to see the awesome power of the Einstein screenie and am just itching to do so.
Many thanks

You can't choose for the screensaver, it just displays the graphics for the currently running application (project). With multicore machines, it should switch from one to the other in certain intervals, but I don't know for sure, since I don't have one.

However, you should be able to view the graphics independently of the screensaver. In simple view, click on the picture that reads "Graphics available". In advanced view, go to the Tasks tab and highlight a running task then click the Show graphics button.

I just checked and found that the graphics display doesn't work with einsteinbinary_ABP1 version 310.

[edit]On further investigation, I found that double clicking the ABP1 graphics program generates
"C:\Programme\BOINC\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu\einsteinbinary_ABP1_3.10_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe ist keine zulässige Win32-Anwendung." whereas einstein_S5R5_3.05_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe shows the expected behaviour (even when no Einstein task is running:-)[/edit]

I used to be able to interact

I used to be able to interact with the star field on the screensaver. Now as soon as I touch the mouse it immediately goes to regular computer viewing. How can I fix the problem?

This option hasn't been available on the screen saver for a long time. It is still available when you use the Show Graphics option in BOINC Manager.

Ok guys, I have read this

Ok guys, I have read this thread as much as I could, trying to ignore the frustrated ranting, to get some useful info.

I have learned that there is/was a bug in the screen saver, Understood. (programming is complicated; if it wasn't everyone would do it and not just complain about it).
Two questions on that issue
1.) Has the bug been fixed?, and
2.) Since I just linked to Einstein will I have to relink or download to see the screen-saver?

Here is my issue

Every time Boinc rolls over to the Einstein project it tries to show the screen-saver, an error message pops up saying this program "names Einstein screen-saver location" encountered an error and has to close. Apparently this is only an aesthetic issue, because my Einstein project says it's ready to report.
however I would still like to be able to see the screen-saver.
here is what I know from my end.

1.) This is a brand new computer with an Intel I5 quad core processor and an Nvidia Cuda GPU running windows 7 64-bit,

1.5)Boinc install is less than a month old (I believe that means it's the newest version)

2.) all of my drivers are up to date, as per my comp.'s manufacturer.(I tried to do it through Nvidia & Intel, but one of those crashed my system, and when I asked they said it's best to always use the manufacturers updates because they know what all is required for all parts of the system to be compatible.)

3.) As I know I am no guru. I would post the specs for my comp, but I can't remember how to get that right now.

Any help (even w/my forgetfulness) would be appreciated

I have a quad core & it does shift. I woke up this molrning with 20 error messages from the einstein ScreenSaver saying it needed to shut down. The project seemed not to be bothered though because it is ready to report now. I believe this post will fall directly behind my first one so no need to rehash. but clicking on the window to see the "graphics available" also brings up the error message.

Don't know how to link to it. can I cut & paste 480kb of info into this board?
