there is a different system of awarding credit being planned which wont have these huge variations
Glad to hear it.
I may adjust my schedule after I gather some more data. I would not mind grabbing all the credit I could after all it is being shared by the quorum. But I figure enough people think I am crazy just putting my monster up as single purpose E@H cruncher. I do not want them to think I am greedy too.

Mark, I don't want to put it on the boards, but if you'll email me at (from my screenname here) firstname dot lastname at comcast dot net, I'll tell you how to avoid all this switching clients back and forth, and to get it to where you're claiming the right credit consistently...

Mark,
How would anyone think you are being greedy, if they take the "big picture" into consideration. First you are sharing with the quorum whatever benefit is derived. Second, the granted credit process usually brings the reward into the range of "normal", where with the many low-claiming rigs out there now, your "standard" 45-credit claims often will tip the balance to the unfairly-low side. Third, it could be credibly argued that it is compensation for your valuable contributions to these fora.
@ Gary,
Putting out the alert on me, eh? :-)
I guess that's fair payback for me dropping the dime on MH.
I confess to an affinity for credits, and my weakness to addiction is well-documented elsewhere. Suffice it to say that I have had therapy under Nurse Rachette long before she turned her cleaver to specialising in computer addiction.
I was informed last week about an SSE app, derived from 5.2.13, that would kick my claims up another 35%-45%, but I'm content with the present claim of 95. It's a rare WU where the 130 claim would have any greater impact. I can say that the l1_0191.5 datafile has been very kind to me as far as quorum partners are concerned, especially this combo.
While we're looking at that WU, take a peek at the errored computer. If that person doesn't soon ask for help, I'll be inclined to conclude that this is one of the very few people who could truly be called, not the preferable "contributor", but "user", trashing WUs and delaying quorums simply so he/she can use the screensaver to entertain.
Regards to all,
Michael

Mostly the statements from you and Bill about evening out granted credit correct but there more than a couple of 118 and 160 credit granted cases in my first week. I doubt my quorum cohorts objected. If I start getting 45 credit granted results over the next week I will probably switch back. Mean while I am investigating other possibilities.
Any ideas on which of the clients from the sse site would work best with a opteron cpu. I was thinking the athlon 64 version.

Mark,
I'd run a CpuZ, if you haven't already, just to verify what version of sse (SSE, SSE2, SSE3) your Opteron has. I *think* that all AMD 64-bit cpus include at least SSE2. If that's the case, I'd go with the Athlon64 SSE2 client.
(edit) I'm already running a SSE opto app from another source, that's kicked benchies up 40%. The 35% I mentioned below would be in addition to that figure, i.e. 1.35x1.4=1.89 :-) the person who referred me to the site I gave you is claiming in the 170s

Tom's Hardware did something like that once, I forget what they got the clock up to, but it was pretty high. There were two guys pouring the liquid coolant which they just let boil away. NOt sure if the article is still there or not ...
I am intrigued by this idea. Obviously it's not practical and it would probably work out cheaper just to buy another computer. Do you know if they did any quantitative analysis on temperature vs speed?

Super-cooling like that is very risky, due to moisture in the air condensing. PZZZZZZT! Definately not for the faint-of heart, or the short-of-funds. Motherboards, graphics and soundcards are very intolerant of water. ;-)

And do NOT try liquid air. The boiling of Oxygen is -183C for Nitrogen the bp is -195.8C. Nitrogen tends to boil of first leaving you with nearly pure Oxygen.
Pure Oxygen is also not a good thing around exposed electrical curcuits.

Mark,
I wonder which would happen first - crystalization of lungs and skin, or conflagration. My money is on crystalization, since 78% N2 would do the job before the O2 became a factor.
