Oh I've had many problems with Ebay sellers, but Ebay protects you.  Sometimes I deliberately buy something I know to be fake because I know I'll end up with it free.  Wanna buy some "2TB" USB sticks that only hold 64GB?

You have more patience than me, or else you enjoy getting something for nothing.  I like to do otherwise, and I blindly expect that others should be and do the same.  Obviously that is not the case, with the 'scalpers' and the like.  There are so many fraudulent schemes going on that I just want to be done with it and not play games.

I guess my old age is creeping up on me. Maybe I should ask Keith if I could also become a member of the O.F.A. (Old Farts Association).

Hey I'm 46!  I feel more like 76.  Anyway, it's not much hassle.  If you don't get what you pay for, just click "return item" and say what's wrong.  If the seller is a pest, just click the "let Ebay handle it" button.  Not sure what the laws are in the USA (I assume you're American from that flag), but in the UK distance selling regulations generously favour the buyer.

As "the founding member" of the O.F.A. I need to remind you this is a self-service/self-nominated association.  However we do sell canned farts if you are feeling like you can't quite live up to your standards......

ROFLing.....

Really I am pretty sure I came up with the OFA but Keith has never left his off his tagline while I have...

I am hunting for the mythical $400 5950x however...

Well you can get close.

Well you can get close.  Amazon and Newegg were both selling new 5950X cpus for $599 a while back.  I bought my second one for that price.  Now they are $10 cheaper still.

Amazon has a used, like new 5950X for $300. But it looks like a China scam mentioning purchasing gift wrap to protect against shipping damage.

I have a couple of $400 eBay bids that I don't expect to hold up.

===edit===If they do I may be reselling one of them.  I also have a 2 cpu+MB EPYC offer out.  But I don't really expect the seller to agree. I would end up with a 96 thread EPYC system.

If he does I may have to cancel the 5950x's.===edit==

Can I make a branch off this club, the I.F.A.?  I like to ignite things.  How much are these cans?

Probably just to stop customs knowing what it is, that would save you a lot.  I assume Amazon has a buyers protection thing like Ebay?  You just can't get ripped off.

Oh and Ebay only recently started including customs in the price. If Amazon don't, you may get a huge unexpected bill.  I years ago bought an old industrial tape drive from USA to UK for £300.  I was charged £100 customs on top!

I can't be bothered with that, you bid, wait a week, get outbid, find another auction, ad infinitum.  I just use Buy it Now.

I DID!!! I bought a video card from Ebay using Paypal and even had it sent to a UPS Store for me to pick up, it never showed up so I filed a claim, long story short alot of finger pointing and it turns out even the UPS number can be hacked and something can SAY it's delivered even if the store never gets it and in the end NO ONE pays you back for your lost investment!!!
