I don't believe my headmaster

I don't believe my headmaster had an RAC.  Well perhaps the breakdown cover - which he may well have had to use!

I was not accurate enough to shoot something into such a small crevice.  I just rammed it up there with my hand.

Here is a question.

X570 vs b450 CPU processing in BOINC.

How much difference does the motherboards internal bus make when we are talking CPU dominated processing?

None.  Cpu processing is all about core clock speed, number of cores employed and modern math function library support in the cpu.  Secondarily is memory speed along with latency.

Since both chipsets you mention can equally support any AMD AM4 cpu, the question is moot.

You HOPE!!  At least that particular seller does take returns for 30 days.

I would question though, at the bottom of the page the seller says that they only accept PayPal.  Yet, at the top they have payments from several (5) companies, including PayPal.

And... it is coming from China!  Beware.

.....[EDIT].....

I have no qualms about things being made and sold from China, but I'd prefer to buy from a US based company (or person) that has already had the dealings with the customs, tariffs, and what not.  Also, you shouldn't have as long to wait if coming from a US vendor.

I'd still personally steer away from a Naples cpu.  So much better choices with a Rome cpu that still can be found for a decent price. You'll get better all-core cpu clocks too if your conversations about cpu only processing is your intent.

Why worry about how many PCIE slots the board has if you are shopping for a cpu project only host?

Good question.  Its not really the PCIE slots its the higher # of cores and a MB that is barely within my budget.

I have priced the Naples cpus and while I see some very decent prices I would have to successfully sell the EPYC cpus for about what I bought them for to afford some $795 ROME cpus (32 cores) and also a MB.

Sigh.  To be revisited later.

So now that I have a "spare" b450 I could go out and get a 5950x cpu (and eventually a highend cooler) and not lose any cpu processing speed?

If that is true, the money coming in from the Rx 5700 sale should just about cover one.

I buy from China all the time.  It doesn't matter if they accept returns or not, they have to or Ebay intervenes.  If I don't get what I paid for, I get a refund, at their expense if they want a return, which they usually don't bother with!  And the customs are dealt with by Ebay, that's already included in the price.

I have bought from EBAY only a handful of times, the last one was a computer case that was sold by Newegg on EBAY for ~$25 less than for what it sold for on Newegg.  Same product, same specs, etc.  Only difference was it was being offered on EBAY for less $$ than Newegg, and Newegg was the seller.

As I said, I'm a bit leery of EBAY sellers.  But that is just me.  I know I can't always be, but I try...  Just be careful, that's what I'm trying to say.

Here is some advice on using

Here is some advice on using the 5950X.  Don't run it on Auto.  Auto uses too much voltage so it can boost a single core.

If you are instead using it for 30 out of 32 cores, set a fixed multiplier of much less than the spec max boost clock with much less voltage.

You'll gain two things, more overall average core clocks speed than the cores would run on Auto under heavy loading and also much less temperature which helps the power delivery and your cooling solution.

Oh I've had many problems with Ebay sellers, but Ebay protects you.  Sometimes I deliberately buy something I know to be fake because I know I'll end up with it free.  Wanna buy some "2TB" USB sticks that only hold 64GB?
