The oldest rocks in Britain are found in NW Scotland and the western isles. This ancient Lewisian gneiss is almost 3,000 million years old. The Scottish Highlands are mainly formed from metamorphic rocks formed around 400-450 million years ago.
Tiny crystals of zircon, a blue semi-precious stone, that had been found in a much younger sandstone in the Jack Hills in the Murchison river basin in Western Australia, were the oldest fragments of the earth’s crust. The age of the crystal, which was dated using the decay of trace uranium atoms within it, is 4.4 billion years, only 200 million years after the formation of the earth itself.
If anyone's interested the language that I posted to Annie was Klingon!

Not Groucho Marx in touch with his feminine side, Mr S?
All real men have a feminine percentage to them, it's just that some are not man enough to admit it. I can be as hard as nails when I have to be and as soft as a pussy cat when I want to be. A full range of emotions rather than living life through horse blinkers.
Groucho and the Marx Brothers with the inimitable Margaret Dumont are some of my favourite films. Not everyone's slapstick humour I agree. I also like W.C. Fields from that era as well, his dry one liners are still funny today.
Ah, the patter of little feet. There's nothing like having a midget for a butler.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then give up. No use being a damned fool about it.
