Hello :) I suppose I should have thought of something to say if it had worked (which it did), but when I did it that way round at seti, it didn't, so I didn't.
Congratulations on your first TLPTW thread win Jonathan! :)
I won't abuse my invisible-rac beyond a few hours, people, I promise
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
Cripes ! I quote ancient Egyptian and Annie turns up ? I must rush off to the movies and watch The Mummy to see what will happen next .... :-)
Otherwise : The translation was performed ~ 2500 BC in anticipation of the English language which would take many millennia to be invented. I guess the chiseler couldn't predict all the words. I thought he did fairly well actually. { Alternatively this tomb finding is hard proof that Dr Who does exist. Alas people have mistaken a BBC documentary for a sci-fi series. }
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal
It's a good thing that I'm not an ancient Egyptian. I can't draw to save my life. Then again, I don't do well as a modern English speaker. I can't spell my way out of a paper bag.
I had a sneak preview of The Mummy. I wonder if this is Annie :
..... as we haven't seen her for a while, she may have transformed to some ancient terror meantime. Perhaps Squiggles* : The Goddess of Crap Tattoos. Just sayin .... :-)
As for English : I hated it at high school. I wuz forced to do English Literature once ie. Bloody Shakespeare. I would happily read a maths or science text though.
( edit ) The Mummy synopsis : she's really pissed off now because she was buried alive for so long. In her day she was a pleasant kindergarten teacher with no supernatural skills. I don't want to sound sexist but : women do have to go out shopping once a week OR it all just goes wrong. { Fifty two missed retail opportunities per year times four thousand years. It's not right I say, not right. So of course she can now cleave spacetime vortices. Tut Tut, what were they thinking .... }
( edit ) Or Tangles : The Goddess of Crap Hairdos .... wheel, bendy forceps, soccer ball, gazelle ....

Be happy that you don't have to learn dutch, that might just be harder than ancient Egyptian and English combined. At least I never got any respectable grades. English was quite a lot better and you can tell how that turned out.

Anyone able to read that? Since no one was complaining about Marks small texts I thought to myself, lets see how far this can go, so here is a real challenge!
I don't expect anyone to actually be able to decode what is written below, but if you can and tell the decoded message here then you are the worthy winner of this thread.
Since I don't expect anyone to decode this, there is of course also a fallback trigger for someone to win this tread that is more or less guaranteed to happen.
At some point I may give some hints if there are people interested in decoding this.

Well the only actual information is either an 'N' or an 'R' in a regular position, the rest 'Z' 'm' and 't' in constant positions cannot add meaning. This gives a two valued code 'alphabet'. Now one is left with choices of two-valued codes to apply meaning from. You could do Morse maybe, or literal Boolean/binary and another code like ASCII overlying that ......
Cheers, Mike.

I know this would prove to be a real challenge to myself if anyone else came up with it.
I like the way Mike thinks, but if that will bring you closer to the answer is far from certain. It might actually work, but it's not the route I took. Almost inclined to try it out, sadly don't have the time for that.
But since this is Einstein@home, one can of course expect geniuses to be around here. And for someone like Albert himself this would probably be far simpler then his riddle. That riddle did take me like 4 hours to solve, ending up with two possibilities of which I could falsify one by trial and error.
@Annie This forum only has one requirement, to have 1 credit. I think that is a rather effective method of stopping spammers. So you can post here all you want and I would not call it abuse if you don't have a RAC. You're most welcome here!
