Does anyone know if there's any way to edit just one entry in the cache held by common browsers? I keep hitting the broken forum link, instead of the working community link (that's my manifestation of what is becoming a common problem), but I don't feel comfortable nuking the entire cache just because of a single character typo. I was never a fan of the "sledgehammer and two short planks" school of computer maintenance.

Don't know if it will work but with some browsers you can use Ctrl+F5 to force a reload of the page content while not using the cache.

I'd tried that before, and I've just tried it again, but it hasn't helped.

I think the problem is that the browser has cached a redirection, rather than the page contents. If only the page source had the correct destination, it wouldn't need to use redirection, and (I hope) the problem would go away. But I'd like to try putting that missing / into the cached redirection to see if my theory is right.

(Browser is Chrome on Windows 7, if anyone has any specialist knowledge)

No specialist knowledge here, but a success report on Chrome on Windows 10.  I was getting the "missing / redirect" problem.  None of the published means to force a page fetch not using the cache worked for me.  I still think the problem was a bum page image which had on the same page a flawed redirect, and an excessive expiration date.

Whether or not I am right about that, I followed this recipe to partial deletion and healed Einstein behavior.

1. clicked the triple vertical dot customize and control icon at upper right.

2. More tools

3. Clear browsing data...

4. selected only the "cached images and files" option

5. selected the "past week" time scope

6. clicked the "do it" button with the "clear browsing data" label

This worked on a machine which had been having the problem for days.  I surmise that I had read the top community page a bit less than a week ago while it was in a temporary bad state.  If that is now past a week ago, one might need to select the next longer time scope.

I share your dislike of the obliteration school of computer maintenance, and have never in my life done a browser cache clear until now.  Not getting any help here, I had to rely on Google sources for the method I used.

In searching about for something useful, I noticed that Nirsoft, which offers at least one other utility I have used, offers a cache viewer for the Chrome cache

Perhaps this might be of some use.  I cannot offer any guarantees of safety or suitability.

I had a poke around using the cache viewer (no ill effects so far), but I didn't find anything identifiable - mind you, with over 20,000 files in total, over 130 relating to Einstein alone, I didn't try very hard.

But I started Chrome afresh, directly from one of the project buttons in BOINC (so my usual range of home pages didn't load), and verified that the problem was still present: then followed your notes to delete files only with the default 1 hour time scope - and that cured it. I knew I hadn't visited any critical page in the last hour, so it feels like a safe procedure for others to follow.

If this is correct, each host needs to crunch ~23 Mio credits a day. This is impossible.

It looks like a problem with the dezimal point; 230k credits a day is possible.

Same problem with nVidia and Intel avg credit. 950k credits with Intel ? Never ever !

123,984,865 divided by 5,429 gives an average daily credit per host of 22,838.

Where is the problem with that???

We've introduced a backend

We've introduced a backend fix that should correctly show the right character encoding for the different databases. A few notes: 1) Boinc-wide teams first need to be updated from the Berkeley servers, which should happen tomorrow. 2) Please check your user profile and team pages. It may be necessary to re-edit and save your content before it is displayed correctly.

If you still see non-latin characters being displayed incorrectly, please let us know and post the URL for reference.
