Thanks to Bernd we now have new applications for both Mac and Windows computers.
Bernd has also impoved the instructions for how to install the beta test applications.
I've got it installed...I think. It deleted the one work unit that was being crunched previously. I did shut down before the new install, but it still deleted it. And of course now it will take days before any more WUs download. I don't know why that is the case, but Einstien seem to be very slow at downloaded WUs. But my Seti still seems to be kicking As.
Thanks for the info. As soon as I get some WUs I will post whether or not it is working.
Your iBook won't gain much of the AltiVec App, but it's good to test the AltiVec detection I put in...

Looks good so far. Got three in queue and it's still playing nice with other projects. I know the G3 won't get anything out of Altivec, but the G5 should make up for it.

Bob,
(1) Do you have OSX 10.3.9 or 10.4?
(2) Are you using version 4.43 of the BOINC manager?
(3) Did you have a working installation BEFORE putting the
app_info.xml and einstein_... files into place?
that path does not exist...are we supposed to create the directory folder inside /einstein.phys.uwm.edu/....or what.
Not very good instructions. I hope they program better then they give instructs!
Need a little help, please!
Thanks in advance!

PS. Why are window machines getting more credits and run faster then the Macs. I have a G4 DP 1GHz w/ 1.5 GB Ram, I am running only boinc and it is slower then windows machines with slower processors.
What gives??!!!
Instructions say to install version 4.43 of the BOINC manager. If you do this,
and attach to the project, it creates the directory described above.
Noticed Something strange. Boinc Manager switched over to another project (SETI), but when it did, it seemed to have "forgotten" how much time it had been crunching on Einstein. When it swtiched back to Einstein, it remembered the percentage completed but CPU time started over from zero.
I had Predictor suspended so turned on "keep in memory" and then unsuspended Predictor. It switched immediatly over to Predictor, but this time remembered the most recent processling time.

Switched over to the Altivec enabled app. Looks to be a lot faster as claimed. Almost twice as fast.

Something to watch for perhaps.
