Activity Monitor reports the following stats (sorted by CPU%):
13076 einstein_0.11_po alan 75.90 2 4.56 MB 42.23 MB
13102 Activity Monitor alan 6.50 2 9.56 MB 122.00 MB

Most (~70%) of the ongoing CPU activity is classified as "System", with the remainder split between User and Nice. There is no Idle capacity shown.
Then, after quitting/restarting BOINC, the hanging WU starts right up where it was hung, with Progress now showing as 78% and climbing.
I actually has 2 Einsteins and 1 Seti running at the same time today. It came off seti pausing one and downloaded a new set of einsteins and started both. But again I have my preferences set to "run always"....not "run based on preferences". So I am having completely different isssues then most of you others. Boinc only switches apps. by the first due back, not every few hours.

I have seen this same thing. I also have my prefs set to "run always". The system is running first date first "MOST" of the time but even with that, it still switches about every hour or two depending on the app. It currently is attached to CP@H, E@H, S@H, and PP@H. It is processing PP@H WUs like crazy at about 1 per hour. CP@H sends a trickle about every 18 hours and takes about 4 days to do that. S@H takes about 5-6 hours per WU and E@H takes about 7:20hrs. Since the system can run a different app in each CPU it is switching things all the time.
E@H WU w_0979.5__0979.5_0_1_T04_hA_1 has stalled twice now. it has 5 mor hours to run. Restarting BOING gets it going again. I have two more that just came down, so it will be 7 hours till I know how they run.
It is beginning to look more and more like S@H is conflicting with E@H for some reason on the swap outs, which is why I am draining the system of SETI WUs. But I still get the occasional stall on a E@H WU for no apparent reason. If you really want to see things go south set your prefs to keep the apps in memory.

Phil

I've got mine set to 'run always' but have been getting the 'hanging' problem (when switching from SETI to Einstein) since Einstein 0.08.

I've finally observed the "hanging" phenomenon. This machine is only attached to E@H. Machine info here:
http://einsteinathome.org/host/335019
Symptoms: after several successful WUs on 0.11 over the past couple days, at some point in the past couple hours a WU hung.
For comparison purposes, a previous successful WU is:
