Well so far so good. After I

Well so far so good. After I installed 012 the first NEW WU came up as using 011, but I suspect this was because I was fooling the system into thinking it was using 011 when in fact the actual app was 012. It resisted a little restarting an existing WU ( w1_0979.5__0979.5_0.1_T11_S4hA_1 ) that had really been downloaded using 011 and partially processed by that version, but after a few false starts it got going and finished the WU last night with no hangs. The WU shows a number of errors in the completion listing ( http://einsteinathome.org/task/7426574 ).

It has been running well and swapping time share with S@H, P@H, and CP@H all night and half of today. As it is a dual processor it has also been running with various combinations of other Apps on one processor while it ran on the other (the worse case as far as I can see), and it has been good. About 20 hours all told, and there have been no problems so far.

The first of the E@H WUs that actually downloaded and will run start to finish with 012 has begun processing ( w1_0979.5__0979.5_0.1_T12_S4hA_3 ). It should be done in the early AM tomorrow. I could speed this up a bit by shutting off the other processes but I don't want to disturb the system just to institute a fake running environment for the sake of getting that WU faster. Patience Grasshopper.

The new version seems to run about 10 min faster on the G4 Dual (7:10hrs vs 7:20). I have put the powerbook back into the mix with the new version as well. It also seems to run about 30 min faster (10:30hrs vs 11:10). I will know more on this point soon.

In any case it looks good so far.

Regards
Phil

So far, so good on the iBook.

So far, so good on the iBook. Two .12 WU done, both are valid. They finished around 3% faster (roughly 7 minutes).

P.s. Could we start a new thread? This Web page is getting so long and full of slow-loading user-signature graphic files that it is a deterrent to actually using it. Note that the reply-to-thread also requires loading all of that all over again. A real pain, even on my broadband cnxn.

Bernd, It might be a

Bernd,

It might be a good idea to start a new thread for every new test application. This was in fact the way I originally planned to run the threads for app testing, although I may not have made that clear you or Bruce.

The app testing is of course your area and you are welcome to handle the threads however you want.

I think that the boundaries

I think that the boundaries between the beta Apps are not very clear, at least not for the series of Mac Apps we needed to put up.

Your approach, makes sense in cases like the Linux one, where the beta status of the last App now officially has ended, we now have a period without active Beta App and the next Linux Beta will be something "completely new". But as we've seen, Beta Test sometimes doesn't go that smooth.

Einstein version 0.12 is

Einstein version 0.12 is working very nicely on this Mac alongside SETI using BOINC Manager 4.43, with no more 'hanging' problems.

Can anyone report on the

Can anyone report on the performance of the 0.12 test app with older (eg, 4.19) core clients? If all continues to go well I think I may soon switch the 0.12 test app to being the standard Mac OS X app.
