Thanks for the update Richard. It does look like they are going to do something over the weekend as I probably thought that they might. Systems off air for 48 hours is not good at a Uni.

Hmm, that is one way of describing a fire!!!
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
Whilst looking to see if local news had any coverage, didn't find anything, I did come across this: http://scs.lbl.gov/service-description so for those who are into the cost of Seti colocation price information is there.
I think we have to bear in mind that the CoLo is a UCB Uni matter, Seti is just one of a number of their customers for that facility. Even If Seti were told what the root cause of the problem was, UCB may not want it promulgated.
We'll all be glad when it is operating normally and back on line, and hopefully none of our kit was damaged.

a machine caught fire in the colo this evening, and this tripped the
halon, and now IST is overheating... it looks like it may have been
one of our servers that popped and caused the event, and thankfully no
one was hurt.
jon is currently at the colo unplugging the remaining machines of the
type that caught fire and we've reached out to the vendor who supplied
them to see about an investigation.
Thanks for the update

Well, I have five witnesses who are more than willing to confirm that none of them were second from left...
so I in fact, have a watertight alibi for once.
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Now then, now then. I have it on very good authority that it was filmed during an away day team building exercise for the Seti Mod team.

Now getting an instant unable to connect and not a forever wait for a timeout. At least the routers are alive.
Overheating issue? Electrical fire in the A/C units?
We won't ever get that much detail.
