I had a high in mid 50's today and tomorow it's supposed to hit 70F!! Though with that high even for us temp will come with 30 to 50+ mph winds and rain, maybe some thunderstorms or even tornadoes!! After that it will drop back down in the low 50's to mid 60's for the rest of the week with the low temps being slightly above the freezing mark.

Seems like your in South Carolina?  Sorry, I have forgotten.

Then about 10:30 am it did start snowing. But the temperature has not crashed down so who knows if the streets has gone from mushy to iced yet.

After it started snowing, "they" finally posted a "Winter Storm Warning" for my county.

Got up this morning (Tuesday) and yes, I or someone will be shoveling snow.

Its a great day to stay home.

After 6 pm, the temperature is supposed to drop into the 20F range.  That is the temperature I have to start dripping my faucets if I don't want my waterlines to freeze up.

Do you have any auxillary heat now besides the heat pump wires? I have propane gas logs with a fan to blow the heat out into the room kind of like a heatilator for a regluar fireplace

My current heats sources are one boinc system and a gas furnace.  Since a high-performance heat pump would drop my summer cooling bill it probably would be a net gain with less carbon emissions too.  I suppose I would need a heat pump water heater too :)

I may have to turn on an electrical heater in my daughters bedroom.

I am TRYING to get my monthly electric bill down from its $300+ height (Level pay)  by running one boinc system with one GPU.  Never mind its running two 128 thread Epyc cpus.  :)  I think December was the lowest electrical usage I have had since early summer.  January will only have the one system period.  So I am hoping for an additional drop in usage.

Talk to your neighbors and see what their bill is per month, mine is 2 to 3 times thiers depending on how efficient they are. The problem with a heat pump water heater is it's still electric but you can get a propane one that if your home has propane is much cheaper to run. I have a tankless one and love it except when it's really cold as the water pipes go thru my slab and when it's cold the heated water takes longer to get to the far bathrooms, but most of the time it's okay. A few of my neighbors have a recirc pump but I haven't done that yet.

If you have the power crank up those gpu's and put our lots of heat, yes the electric bill will go up but so will your RAC!! And your electric bill is going to go up to keep you warm at those temps anyway!

In north-central Illinois

In north-central Illinois (USA), our Rockford forecast for Saturday night is going down to -5॰ F, and Sunday it will reach a daytime HIGH of just 0॰ F, and will stay at or below 0॰ F for the following two days, getting to as low as -13॰ F Monday night.

.....[EDIT].....

BTW, those are raw temperatures, windchill temperatures will be lower.

I hope your pc's keep you warm as well!! Since mine are in my garage they do not heat my home, so what i do on days when it's below about 65F  I go into the garage and open the side door and lock the storm door with the screen open and then use a floor fan to blow the cool air into my computer room making the mini-split run at only half what it would be doing if the door was closed. Then inside the home I use the propane gas logs to keep the heatpump from running until I go to bed after midnight and also use the temp setback feature on my thermostat to set the temp down to 64f from 10pm to 8:30am. I am normally up long before 8:30am, runing the logs back on when I get up, but also the Sun is usually beating down on it by then so even if it does run it's running as efficiently as possible. Yes I have a fan inside the gas logs enclosure to blow the heat out into the home instead of it going up the chimney.
