I started my distributed

I started my distributed computing career with SETI. I long lost all my account credentials, but I started with a 28.8k Modem on my dual pentium pro. Dual socket and full SCSI was rather expensive back then and I only upgraded to Pentium II 450 later on along with my Linux kitted Playstation2 (performance was horrendous, I remember compiling GIMP which took like 2 days).

Crunching E@H for over a month now, feels like home again. I've been for too long. Glad to be able to participate again. The enthusiast in me was dormant for over a decade.

Welcome back. :-)It's

Welcome back. :-)

It's been a busy decade. We are still awaiting the long sought after continuous wave signal. We have found more pulsars and some weird stellar systems meantime. We have placed observational constraints to guide theoreticians on the modelling of neutron star material interiors. We have honed search strategies and algorithms. And it is still fun to be involved !

Cheers, Mike

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

Since Seti@Home went into hibernation I have noticed less caffeine in my coffee...  (and less conversation here).

Java coffee went into hibernation too, that might be the cause. Caffeine load average is rather low here, because I long switched to tea. I'm getting older and have to keep track of my blood pressure :(

If you are that old, like I am, you grew up with the words 'better life thru chemicals' and could take a pill to control your BP AND let you drink your coffee, in moderation, again. :-))

Come on Lassie (yes, the Lassie from the OLD days of B&W TV), let put on your Service Dog harness so we can both get out of here.  These people are too old for me... I think.  I'm just XX years old, and don't feel a day over XX.
