Gosh some people have

Gosh some people have interesting lives :

"Well I did hit a whale last Xmas ... "

Him and his mates are going out of port to do some deep sea fishing, into the Great Australian Bight ( south of South Australia ). Barreling along at some 30+ knots in their fully kitted out fishing boat, an adult southern right whale broaches smack in front of them ~ 20m away. No where to go. They hit it and everyone flies through the air into the drink. The whale moves on basically unharmed, as they do, while the lads scramble to the boat which fortunately hadn't sunk. It wasn't very serviceable at that point, so they had to call for a rescue tow and it all otherwise ends well.

This whale is noted as "being curious and playful towards human vessels". Hmmmmm.

Now if I was that guy I'd definitely be winning !! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) FYI : " The testicles of right whales are likely to be the largest of any animal, each weighing around 500 kg (1,100 lb)."
That probably explains why he swims wherever he likes ....

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
