its very rare that i get one, just wondering if i can get some insight in to what caused it so i can check on things if i need to.

validate error, idea's?

I have no idea but lately I have some validate errors as well and they are very rare to me. All are Arecibo ones and the wingmen, who finished, are also invalid. I have 7 invalids, the first id from September 26.
So there is something to investigate I think.

I had two yesterday. Both took over three hours to complete, normally it's an hour and a half.

I too am seeing a lot of Arecibo workunits over the past couple of days that are taking twice as long as usual and are all giving validate errors. Looks like a batch of bad workunits.

"Validate error" has the very specific meaning that the Validator couldn't find the uploaded result file. Considering the several cases where storage space ran out since May, or server crashes and such, it is not too surprising that some fraction of uploaded files have gone missing.

Thanks for reporting

Thanks for reporting this.

I forwarded this to the admins.

I am not sure this is related but in fact, there is a batch of new ABP2 workunits generated that will pack more work into each task (vredit is adjusted accordingly). The reason is twofold: first to generate less server load , second to prepare the project for the release of a new CUDA version of ABP search in the hopefully not so distant future.

I think I got one of these - Workunit 83941818. It claimed 175.54 credits, but my wingman hasn't reported it back yet, so I don't know what will be granted. It took a little over twice as long to crunch, but seemed to run fine on my venerable dual Athlon MP 2000 box.

Update... My wingman has now reported and both our results were flagged as validate errors. Two more results have been created and are currently "unsent". One of my other machines, a dual Pentium III/800 system, may have a couple of these "Super ABP2" workunits in its cache. I'll keep an eye on them and report back when they complete.

Every regular workunit (4

Message 99783 in response to message 99782

Every regular workunit (4 subtasks) is validating just fine. Every super workunit is either waiting for validation or giving a validate error. I have about 40 with validate errors and another 30 pending right now.

Examples of those with validate errors are

And Greg if you look closely

Message 99784 in response to message 99783

And Greg if you look closely you will see at Validate state: "Checked, but no consensus yet". However the Validate state is: invalid. Or am I missing something here?

My invalids, 11 at the time, have also "Checked, but no consensus yet".
So this is stuff for the developers to think about.
