And the article does not even mention ITER, the biggest culprit!

LHC is in the news again with

LHC is in the news again with some excellent 'boffinry' and some nice visualisation a-la the opening sequence for the film Angels and Demons:

LHC boffins turn lead into quarko-gluotic Big Bang incrediblo-stuff

International boffins are vying with one another in a race to topsy-turvinate the world of physics this week, with a flurry of results due in imminently from radical fabric-of-time-and-space-rending experiments at the Large Hadron Collider - most brutally powerful particle-pummeller ever assembled by the human race.

“It is impressive how fast the experiments have arrived at these results, which deal with very complex physics,†says atom-smashing bigwig Sergio Bertolucci in a statement issued ahead of blockbusting boffinry announcements scheduled for Thursday. ...

A good fun article. Even better are the comments!

Apologies to all non-native English speakers. The serious detail is hidden under a lot of nicely amusing technobabble humour...

:-)

For a full appreciation, a good knowledge of particle physics and science fiction, especially the HHGTTG and Discworld series of books, are a prerequisite!

Keep searchin',

I am a non native English

I am a non native English speaker but I spent one year in the USA so I know American English some better than British English, two peoples separated by a language it was said. So I have some problems with TheRegister jargon. But I admire their success in bringing a paper model aircraft to 20000 meters by a helium balloon and following its flight down to mother Earth. My models never attained that height.
