I have a 1.4G dual processor attached to the project. It is running NT4 Enterprise Server It has always crunched away with no problems. It is computer 5596. The client is the last one compatible with NT4. Since the new run has started, all WUs have erred out. I have set the machine to NNW. The machine cannot be upgraded to a newer OS as it is an active file server.

Windows NT4 No Longer Compatible?
)
All your tasks come back with the error:
There are no child processes to wait for. (0x80) - exit code 128 (0x80)
This is usually because of an out-of-date DirectX version. But I don't think you'll find a DirectX 9.0c for Windows NT. At least, not according to Microsoft.
Would it be an option to
)
Would it be an option to disable graphics maybe (if it's running on a server...).
IIRC, a file named EAH_NO_GRAPHICS in the BOINC folder can diable graphics altogether.
Let us know if this helped.

Might want to check with Bernd, I vaguely recollect that in response to someone else asking a similar question that Bernd said this file no longer was valid. IF it does have utility I would like to know since I deleted this file in the recent upgrade.

Doubtful. It's sitting proudly in my BOINC data directory and I have graphics on Einstein. ;-)

Too bad :-(. I don't have Windows booted up so I could not try.

Nope there are no graphics on

Nope there are no graphics on this server. What my first thought was a problem similar to one I had on Malaria. It turned out there that when the app was compiled, the used a new library in M$FT VC++ that was not compatible with NT4. It was fixed there by recompiling with an older library. The thread was mislabeled by me in Malaria OPT3.32 when I meant 1.32... Was the app recompiled for the new run? If so I may just have to drop my 2 NT4 machines.

Please download
)
Please download einstein_S5R4_6.04_windows_intelx86.exe.zip. The file einstein_S5R4_6.04_windows_intelx86.exe in the archive is meant as a replacement for the file with the same name in the project directory. If you don't know how to build an app_info.xml around the App files to prevent the signature checking, please ask for help here.
If this cures the problem, please let me know, it will be incorporated in the next releases of the Windows Apps then.

Sigh
Finally got to do the download and built the app_info.xml
It downloaded a couple of WUs (app_info ok I think) First 1 ran for about 2 minutes and then erred Code 128.
If the second one runs with the same error I will not repost, if it runs ok I will post.

Any determination on whether

Any determination on whether the problem is with the science app or the graphics?
If it's just the graphics, a way to disable it would be nice.

I understand it's a problem
)
I understand it's a problem in the switching program (that will select which of the science app variations to use). It's not graphics related. Bernd posted a link to an alternative switching program above.
