For whatever reason, the

For whatever reason, the boinc daemon has not gotten started. If you are running single or multi user, this can quite often be fixed with a reboot of the machine.

If that does not fix it, you should look at the rights of the user doing the login. If that user does not have write rights to the BOINC directory tree, then the BOINC daemon will not start.

I have exactly the same problem (though I'm not on wireless). My PC restarted and the BOINC project list is empty even though it was working on a work unit the other day. Try to reattach and...nada.

What's going on?

On windows, many people are having a problem in that if the boinc manager is set to start automatically at boot up, then it is failing to connect to the actual boinc program (on your computer) and load the data. If you reboot your machine, as soon as it boots up, exit completely from boinc using file | exit, and then restart the boinc manager from the windows start menu. When you do this, it will load up and all of your info and data will still be there. It won't let you re-attach because you're already attached - it's just not properly loading the data to allow you to see this.

And you need to wait also the time needed to have Boinc to shut down. This takes some 15 seconds, otherwise you will start Boinc will it is still running.

Can we get this sorted

Can we get this sorted please?

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I'm not prepared to reboot my pc after every start just to get BOINC working. That's just stupid.
The next version of BOINC needs to start itself cleanly and exit cleanly when there is a 'windows shutdown request in the system'. Obviously you can't expect to cleanly detach if your pc crashes, but on startup maybe BOINC should check for open sessions and then close them before it tries to re-attach?

I joined both the SETI and

I joined both the SETI and the Einstien projects over a month ago and find that I have never attached to do any work. My preferences are set to do this work while I sleep, ie. midnight to 8 AM. and yes I do leave the computer on and connected via DSL during that time. Any thoughts? If anyone cares to respond directly my e-mail is .
A second question. Is there anyway to start the process manually?

Did you enter the project URL's and 32 digit ID keys that you received by email correctly?
