I've recently rejoined the Einstein at Home project and have discovered one of the reasons I dropped out awhile back. The BOINC program is, for me, user unfriendly and even when I put it into "snooze" mode my computer runs so slow that I can hardly get anything done. Prior to reinstalling the new version my computer (a one year old, top-of-the-line Gateway laptop) ran just fine but immediately after putting BOINC back in it slowed to a snail's pace. Does anyone have a suggestions to mitigate this problem?

BOINC and Einstein at Home paralyze my computer
)
You could try setting it up so the Einstein@Home application is suspended while the computer is in use and waits "X" minutes before restarting once the computer is idle. See my posts in this thread for more information on how to do so if needed.
a laptop that runs just fine,

a laptop that runs just fine, untill boinc kicks in and the cpu hits 100% sounds like thermal throttleing to me. yeah i know, people get tired of hearing about heat all the time. so do i, but by the description it fits. clean the vents? use a laptop cooler? you can try a program calld throttlewatch a quick google search found http://www.techspot.com/download400.html basicly if you run this app, THEN start boinc, if anything changes in the bottom graph, it probably means throttleing is running. i.e. the cpus gotten to hot so its slowd down to save it self.. hope this helps, or atleast gives ya an idea or two :)
