There's a simple rule: there aren't WUs version 4.02 and WUs version 4.10
You don't get it.
The wu's downloaded for version 4.02 will be validated as crunched by version 4.02.
Wu's downloaded for version 4.10 will be validated less agressive, to give room for optimization. That's why it is important to be reported as crunched by version 4.10!
I repeat the quote again for you:
Quote:
Bernd told me some things.
He would like that we use the 4.10 version number for patched files, so you should rename your files and built an app_info.xml file in the future. The next patches will search einstein_S5R1_4.10_windows_intelx86.exe in their directory.
The other thing is that the validator doesn't drop out those results that have only a small difference in the values, like as S4 validation. So, there is possible to built ( a bit ) faster codes!

There is nothing in your second quote to imply that Berndt has implemented some kind of discrimination in the validator, dependent on version number. It just isn't there.

You got this wrong. It's just the other way around.
It say's the validation in S5 is more strict than S4 was but for 4.10 crunched wu's will be as tolerant as the S4 version was. So there is tolerance for more optimization, wich leads to slightly different numbers.
But as i said already, i stop fighting against windmills ;)
This result was returned by Crunchers For More Power today using 4.10. Note the 19 Jun 2006 workunit creation date. Obviously it began life a a 4.02 workunit.

This is European cooperation at it's best! Yes, let's stay friendly, even if we do not agree. ;-)
There are no differences betweem 4.02 and 4.10 versions, but would be good if your boinc reports the pathced version as 4.10. As far as i know the boinc client takes this info from app_info.xml ( anonymous platfrom ).

Ok, then explain me why my other results from S5T0712 will accepted.
That were also 4.02 WUs.
EDIT: if you are right, then all users with opt. clients must use the original client for their 402 WUs.

I have to explain nothing. Go as you like, i will stay out of the way. Good luck!

We all want the same.
So shake hands.
Stay tuned and keep crunching
