Oh my, the craziness that can happen when one goes on vacation...

I see the S5 units are in full force now, my machine is taking 17 hours to crunch them...

These enhanced WU's have me a bit confused...

For SSE3 CPUs: ---> S5T0709.DAT patch file***Also Out of Date - see S5T0711.DAT in discussion thread

Is this the one we should use, or what's the out of date referring to?

I assume you won't be taking any more vacations then to save us all?

It is actually in this thread, but a looooong way down, see here.

There is also a S5T0712.DAT now, but you need to read a lot more of this thread before trying that. Best of luck. Mike

I have changed at one wu the version 402 to 410 in the client_state.xml.
Then i crunched it with S5T0713 and here is the result.

result

stderr.txt: E@H S5R1 4.10 0712 TEST ???

Thanks, is there a patched einstein app as well?

I couldn't find an already patched application for S5T0711........in the other sticky thread, the latest already patched app available is 0709 (SSE3.....or 00007 (SSE)

I was able to figure out how to patch 0711 myself though, and i'm not real savvy, but there were some clear directions around here somewhere......

Stop and Exit BOINC, back up BOINC directory......I created a new folder to work in....., copy your existing Einstein app and paste it in the created folder.......download patcher and 0711 dat file......place all three in the folder together........einstein app, 0711 dat file, patcher.....

then right click on 0711 dat file, and Patcher ......(may have to find it by browsing) when patcher asks to hit a key.......hit ENTER!......watch for the text.........Status: Done

then you should be good to go.........copy the newly patched app that's in that folder over into the where the original was in the BOINC directory, and restart things.......

this is from the thread:
http://einsteinathome.org/node/191438

This thread will help too............. http://einsteinathome.org/node/191433 ---is the sticky which tries to keep up with stable apps....

will eventually need to address the issue of modifying the app name to be 4.10 instead of 4.02, but I'm waiting until the smoke clears before trying that.....and it sounds like you should have an empty cache before attempting the mods...........

0711 doesn't need the change, but is still reporting as 402......to confusing for me to change things yet......

Is there agreement on the

Is there agreement on the correct form of the app_info.xml file we need to use with the newer patches? Does the one included in Udo's zip files work? I'm still waiting for my current work unit to finish and clear out my cache because I'd rather not mess with the client_state.xml file. I'd just like to make sure I have a good app_info.xml file before I make a new patch or start another work unit. Thanks.

Once we get all this sorted it might be a good idea to start this thread afresh. Starting with a new set of instructions and fresh links to the latest stable/test app and a known working app_info.xml file. Basicly all thats need to continue from here with as little confusion as possible. This thread is getting very long too.

That's an excellent suggestion. I'd hate to see a lot of workunits trashed over the confusion here. Personally, I'm sticking with S5T0709 for now. It's fast and stable, and you can simply replace the standard app without messing with app_info.xml at all.

you can also do that with 0711, that should be a bit faster and all CPUs can use it. (just for information for other people who dont want that app_info thing)

Thanks, MetalWarrior. I think until the dust settles I'm going to stick with S5T0709. It's given me a 27% boost, it's SSE3-specific so it works well with my processor, my results are validating, and I haven't trashed any workunits with it. At some point I'll update again, but I don't think I want to press my luck any further for right now. I like to take things slow and methodical :)

Validate state: Checked, but no consensus yet

this is usually a bad sign I think.......correct?

Thanks Matt, although I'm not sure if it properly patched it...is there an easy way to tell?

it was my result ;)
Has somebody a valid result from S5T0713 ?
