Whats the clue ?

I'm not sure. You might want to try running scandisk. I'm not sure about other file systems, but fat32 can display an incorrect space left number if it's corrupted.

Since the new S5 work is so

Since the new S5 work is so large, having a long cache is a bad idea during the transition.

I'd suggest checking your connect to network settings and drop it below 1.0

And the third?

Use no more than: ... disk space
Leave at least: ... disk space free
Use no more than: ... % of total disk space

Use no more than: 2 GB disk space -> my disk has 850 mb total
Leave at least: 0.00 GB disk space free
Use no more than: 100% of total disk space

btw: connect to network every 0.00001 days
and the disk is NTFS -> had run scandisk and defrag today !

Stumbled !!!

Leaving 0 MB is not a wise

Leaving 0 MB is not a wise value, I think. Also 0.00001 days may not be good, perhaps values in preferences doesn't allow such precission.

Anyway, you seems to hit the limit.
I would free up some space or put BOINC on different partition.
100 MB might just not be enough for whole BOINC, Einstein and who-knows-what-else.

I'd suggest increasing your

I'd suggest increasing your connect to network to 0.05 (72 minutes)

I've tried a few settings lower than that, and it causes odd things to happen.

If the request for 33650 seconds was the problem, changing the connect setting may solve it. If you machine stops asking for too much work then that was likely it.

Thanks,
problem solved via FDISK to define a bigger partition,
on another HD -> the old one, really had only 850 MB total.

Now, I am downloading h1_0996.0_S5R1

Boincview -> is estimating 6 hours left to complete the download,
this, after 2 hours of download time.

This way,
I will be allowed to crunch at maximum 3 WUs each day,
cause the day has only 24 Hours

btw: my modem is reporting 30% of data compression, done by modem hardware.
Could'nt the WUs, be gzip(ed), or better rar(ed),
before sending it over a 28800 bps modem ?

You can get upto 8 WUs

You can get upto 8 WUs assigned per file downloaded, so baring bad luck you should be able to keep going at 100% if you can provide a dedicated connection. If you don't have a dedicated data line, you could game the system by spiking your time between connection and dropping it back down. I'm not sure if doing it before or after downloading the datafile would be hte optimum time though?

Any data compression in the WUs themselves would make more sense at the boinc level rather than as an adon for the science app. I'm not sure where to post a suggestion for that, but the suggestions board here would probably be a good start (if nothing else somoene there could probably give you a pointer to the correct location.

Must be the season for this error!
I saw much the same with mine ( at about 90MB ) last week, and discovered my son had installed a couple of games while I was out ( school holidays at present ). So my hard drive free space had shrunk from many GB's down to not a lot! Those first-person-shooters do suck the marrow out of the hard-drives... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
