There are two types of workunits: short and long. The short workunits have XXXX.X less than or equal to 0400.0.
There are also two types of data files: short and long. The short data files (l1_XXXX.X) are from the LIGO Livingston Observatory, and are about 4.5MB in size. The long data files (h1_XXXX.X) are from LIGO Hanford and are about 16MB in size. Note: once your computer downloads one of these data files, it should be able to do many workunits for that same file.

This is an exciting time I think. Just like we saw so many times in the early SETI days when it took 19-28+ hrs per wu on my P133 w/96meg mem. except now we can look forward to optimizations that we never saw back then. Don't despair folks it's part of the cycle.

My non-overclocked Opteron 165 needs 34,000 for a long unit. Maybe I should consider overclocking :)
The 165 is one of the greatest overclockers ever. With stock cooling and voltage you should easily be able to bump it up to 2.5GHz or more. I've used a Zahlman 9500 cooler and it's a great one. I have the 165 at 2.67 for now since it's summertime and with the other rigs, I can't keep the room cool enought to keep them all stable enough to turn in valid results. In the winter I generally take it up to 2.8 (give or take) - that's a full 1 GHz overclock on air cooling.

I now that my computer is an old one, celeron 700 Mhz, but it runs now for more then 1 year now (24/7). I use the linux version of einstein@home. With the S4 units, I had a RAC of 55 (2.3 credits/hour), and now with the S5 units it jumped to 170 credits/day for the last 2 days (7 credits/hour). I get only short units which are completed in +/- 10000 sec and get +/- 20 credits for each of them.
I like this a lot better, because with the S4 units my claimed credit was in most cases lower then the claimed credit by the others computers, and therefore the granted credit was on average to low for my computer. This credit system is more fair, then the previous one. I didn't like the old credit system.
The only minor flaw I can see at this moment, that there is substantial "credit inflation". What I mean is that to get the same amount of credits which I have accumulated for the last year, I only need to run this computer for 4 months (and not a whole year).
