I'm just here to contribute 24/7 and I can't wait to see some cool graphics from findings out of all of this.
OT - for those that think their CPU gets maxed out, my P4 (but nothing special) HAS been maxed out since I started this (yesterday) but I have not been hung-up ONE TIME and I have 9 Samurize configs running on my desktop (one consisting of rotating outer-space screenshots (heavy graphics), WinAmp playing music, XEarth running on the desktop and I just had 11 I.E. windows open (come on Firefox, lower that RAM usage so I can get my tabs back!)). The Task Manager being "maxed out" refers to an individual task, not the CPU, hence no hang-up. (VIEW > SHOW KERNEL TIMES gives CPU data)
Bottomline, to be able to contribute to science in my own little way makes me feel good (and useful, since I'm out of work right now) and it doesn't cost me anything (even "real" CPU cycles), and that's a good thing.... WOW, didn't Martha make out? Good night.
P.S. - still waiting on my avatar from the Capt. so until then... plus I see siggy's can take up to 4 hrs. initially.

I came to the forums because I was curious about the same thing the original poster was, and I have to say, the responses on the part of all the beta testers are very narrowminded.
The vast majority of people that run the client are not going to understand the science behind Einstein at all, and may never know what the end results are. They may have an interest in science, and just want to contribute. The only thanks these people want, is to see their name on scoreboard.
If all you guys want is contributions by people who have grokked Relativity, keep up the holier than though attitude.
PS -- there is a utility to throttle-down CPU Utilization by BOINC:Einstein@Home.

I had the same problem, and here's what worked for me.
Go to the "Projects" tab.
Right-click on "Einstein@Home"
click "update"
It may take a few minutes to update. After the update completes, however, you'll see your credits applied appropriately.
Keep in mind, though, that you get credit only after having completed a work unit (I think).
