A new App for Intel-based Macs is available on our Beta Test Page. It was built from the same code as the 4.58 Linux App, and should be way faster than our current official 4.46. How much faster exactly is left to you to find out.

Happy Testing!

There is none (yet). Some

There is none (yet). Some part is coded in Assembler, which won't work on PPC.

Can you specify in detail about your Intel Mac specs and WU completed in seconds.....?

Thanks....

If I can trust the CPU time/percent done numbers the beta app is at least 4 times faster than the standard app. Standard app was approx 7h/WU, current WU is at 10 min/11% done. (Mac Mini Dual Core, 1,66 GHz, 2GB RAM)

A huge improvement and a good reason to start crunching Einstein again.

Thanks a lot for this speedup

I am using iMac Core Duo 1.83 Mhz 1GB ram with other programs running and kids downloading. I am getting results of 4770 CPU sec. per WU. What is the best way to run 2 Boinc projects at once? Have them both at 100% and switch once an hour. With my Core Duo, I sometimes have 2 of either Seti or Einstein running, or sometimes I have one of each running.

Big improvements for me too.

Big improvements for me too. From 18,000 CPU Secs to 4,200 CPU Secs ...
BUT:
Whereas I was claiming 71.00 credits before, and being granted about 43/44 ...
I am now only claiming 16.20 !!!
HELP!!!!!
What is going wrong?

Nothing. The claimed credit is roughly benchmarked_flops * cpu_time_used, so if you only need 1/4 of the time, the claimed credit will also go down by the same amount. Your granted credit, however, will probably not go down that much.

The next analysis run (starting in roughly 2 weeks) will probably be set up in a way that a fixed credit is granted for each Task, regardless of the time needed to crunch it.
