I have downloaded BoincStudio but I am reluctant to use it because I don't speak French very well. I read that it allows you to artificially inflate the numbers of CPUs, allowing for more WUs to be downloaded. I tried Google translation, but it is still hard to read. If anyone has any experience with BoincStudio could you please post some simple installation instructions.

I've installed it without any problems - no French needed!
I -
1. shut down boinc
2. copied my programfiles\\boinc directory (be safe!)
3. unzipped the downloaded app - directed it to unzip to ....\\programfiles.
NOT \\programfiles\\boinc, otherwise it creates a sub-directory \\boinc\\boinc
4. started boinc again
everything is still in English. The only French I've seen is a couple of msgs in the window under the 'Messages' tab when boinc starts up. (so far anyway. )

I've got it installed, but I am unable to get it to start crunching WUs I downloaded using the standard client. I can't even connect as a new host. Any thoughs?

can't help you on that one. I'd say that the only thing you can do is revert to your original boinc directory. Or maybe if you go over to SETI msgboards you can get some help there from the BoincStudio originators.

Yes Dan. Although I *think* it claims too high. Not certain yet, I've only been running it for a day or so, but it seems higher than truXoft.

From what I could tell from google translation BoincStudio has credit calibration like truXoft, it allows you to control multiple hosts over a network like BoincView, it allows you to claim more CPUs then you actually have letting you download more than 32 WUs per CPU, and a few other nice add-ons.

I'll have to give it a try tonight. Truxsoft is deliberately designed to claim a bit low to avoid some cheating claims. ~45credit/WU was my 4.37 average, with trux I claim 36 to 38 on big WUs.

I forgot to say that I'm only running a single machine currently, so I can't speak for BoincStudios language when using the View capabilities yet. I thought I'd give it a try first before I hooked in an old m/c that that I have.

Hello, I'm ThierryH and I work with DocMaboul on BoincStudio. I will try to answer to questions until we launch an international version.
To install BoincStudio, simply copy it in his own directory (C:\\Program files\\BoincStudio). Don't forget to install the version "BoincStudio" of boinc.exe in Boinc directory.
To allow a bigest number of cpu, edit the file local_opts.xml in Boinc directory and put the number you want on parameter. The limite is 8. Einstein projet have a quota of 32 wu/day/cpu but have also a quota of 128 wu/day.
I'm the author of the claimed credit correction. DocMaboul did several modifications. The methode is to divide bench results by the correction duration factor. It's why you see very big numbers on cumputer pages when you're using optimized client. The correction duration factor is set at 1 to obtain the good number of work units. DocMaboul did modified the way to calculate the correction duration factor. Curently, since version 0.4b, this correction is not good for Einstein and give an estimated time to short, so give a claimed credit to high.
Rebember, BoincStudio is in Alpha version. We are only testing solutions. The 0.5 version will support multi-languages. We'll probably make ourself the English version, but we'll need help for others.
