Ian & Steve C, what in the world is a "DRIVE-PG199-PROD"? Only thing I found was related to GPUs in EVs for automation.

It's got me wondering. What is the smallest single GPU that still might let you sneak on to the bottom of the Top 50 list?

 Clearly a rtx 3080 ti can.

And I am fairly confident a Titan V can't.

What about a rtx 2070?

It looks like an rtx 3080 probably would.

I wonder if a rtx 2080 would?

Just wondering how cheap a GPU I could buy and still (probably) make it onto the Top 50.

It also looks like the rtx 4090's must have come down in price?  I just saw a couple single GPU systems show up at the bottom of the Top 50 listing.

===edit===

Maybe a rtx 3070.  Based on theoretical FP32 performance....

My car computer should come

My car computer should come up to ~3.2M ppd, if I let it run that long. so It seems I'm winning for now.

I'm unsure how a 4090 does in the current O3AS tasks since all the 4090s seems to have dropped off from Linux/optimized systems. I think my card might out produce them though since the memory bandwidth of my card exceeds even the 4090.

if anyone out there with a 5090 shows up on Linux and runs in an optimized way, that might take the win.

PrimeGrid is running their annual Tour De Primes this month and you get t-shirts with numbers on them if you find prime numbers that go into the top 5k list, so those 4090s may come back next month when the 'race' is over. The more that you find that go on the list the higher the number is on your shirt ie I have a shirt from 2023 with a 12 on it indicating I found 12 Prime Numbers that were or are on the top 5k list.

Nice! Is it in an old(er) blade server? Just curious on how you are cooling/implementing it.

Our 4090 GPUs only run during school hours so they will probably never be in the top.

In the works.... let's just say it has been unbelievably complicated. It might be weeks away for us, but we think it is going to happen. Someone will most likely be here with one before us since we are at the mercy of the vendor(s) we are working with. VERY curious to see how the 5090 does with that memory bandwidth.

the GPUs have an SXM2 interface, not normal PCIe. you need an adapter board to convert that to PCIe. and then you put a heatsink on top. I'm water cooling mine right now.

it's basically a cut-down A100.

* 96SMs instead of the 108 on the full A100
* 32GB instead of 40GB on A100
* 4096-bit mem bus instead of 5120-bit bus on A100
* lower core clock speed, but faster memory speed
* there is no power management, and it runs full clock speed all the time. and can't be power limited.

Is it even feasible to air cool it?
